Mrs. Sarah Jenkins called the meeting to order. Mrs. Ralph Stewart gave the devotional and closed with a prayer. A program of music was con ducted by Dorsey Turner, who also played the piano with Stan Foster, Gerald Foster and Earl Turner assisted with the singing. CHRISTMAS CANTATA A Christmas cantata, “The Music Of Christmas,’’ was held Sunday evening, December 18, at Calvary Baptist Church. Prayer and scripture was giv en by Rev. J. W. Spillers. Mrs. Joe Land was director of music; Mrs. Billy Reynolds was organ ist, and Mrs. Vernon Trammell, p anist. Miss Martha Joan Reed er was soloist. Taking part and rendering the various selections in addition to the regular church choir were the Celestial choir. Concord choir. Cherub choir, Carol choir and the congregation. CHRISTMAS PARTY AT EPWORTH CHURCH The ladies of Epworth Metho dist Church gathered on last Tuesday evening for the annual Christmas party in the fellowship hall of the church, which was gaily decorated with Christmas arrangements. Miss Kitty Mae Moseley had charge of entertainment for the evening and opened the party with a Christmas reading, Christ in Christmas.” Several party games were enjoyed, fol lowing which a buffet supper was served. The ladies exchanged gifts under the lighted tree. CHRISTMAS PARTY ENJOYED A Christmas party for the chil dren of St. Boniface Catholic Church was held on Sunday af ternoon at the Joanna club house. A Christmas pageant was giv en by the children of the church. Santa Claus presented the chil dren gifts and candy. The parishioners presented Fr Ernst Gerald, pastor of the church, a freezer. JUDGES FOR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS Mrs. G. N. Foy and Mrs. J. B. Haft were two of the four Judges chosen to judge the Christinas decorations in the business dis trict and residential sections in Clinton last Monday. SURPRISE BIRTHDAY DINNER On Sunday, December 18, Vir gil Lee Cotney was delightfully surprised when Mrs. Cotney and his mother, Mrs. Florence Cot ney, honored him with a birthday dinner. Forty-one members of the family helped him celebrate. A bountiful buffet dinner, including the decorated birthday cake, was served, As the day progressed movies were made. The devo tional was given by Bill Poag, assisted by Tillman Cole, with the topic, “The Christmas Sto ry." The traditional turkey dinner was served. Christmas carols were sung and gifts were ex changed.
