TUCKER The Lydia Community Building was the scene of a lovely pink and blue shower on Saturday evening for Mrs Jimmy Tucker. Games and contests were enjoy ed by the group of ladies present. WOMAN’S CLUB APRIL MEETING The April meeting of the Lydia Woman's Club was held on last Thursday evening at the Commu nity Building with the president, Mrs. Ralph Riddle. Mrs Clyde Trafnmell introduced Mrs Claude Madden, of Clinton, who showed around 15 different kinds of flowers made of wood fibre. ! She taught the ladies to make a carnation and then make it into a corsage, and explained the different ways to make containers from bot tles sound around the house. Mrs Madden has earned her cer- tificaie in making flowers. She is also making ceramics and has in vited the club out to her home at a future time to see her display and materials. R. WALDROP H. R. (Bum) Waldrop. 63. tex tile overseer and resident of the Cross well community, Rt. 8, Green ville, died at a local hospital at £:50 a. m Sunday after six months declining health and a serious ill ness of six weeks. Mr. Waldrop was born in Madi son County, N. C., fin April 5, 1897, a son of John W. Waldrop and the late Mrs. EUa^Simth Waldrop. As a young man. he came to Green ville and for 35 years lived in the Woodside community before mov ing to the Crosswell community 10 years ago. For 40 years he was overseer of the machine shop at Woodside Mill. He served with the U. S. Army during World War I. Always keenly interested in ath letics, he was a player and umpire with several baseball teams for 25 years. He was a member of the Cross well Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rachel Hensley Waldrop of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Lu cille Ernest, Mrs. Doris Childress and Mrs. JaneUe Fowler, of Green ville; a son, Everett B. Waldrop, of Greenville; his father, John W. Waldrop, of Fork Shoals; seven sis ters. Mrs. Maude wSt^d, of New Mexico:.
