/ • Pape Two .• I THE CLINTON CHRONICLE Thursday, August 18, 1949 Plans Announced For Bell Street Opening Sept. 8 The following statement setting forth plans for Bell Street school was furnished The Chronicle yes-- terday: The local board of trustees and the Bell Street committee wish to announce that plans have been made whereby Bell Street School will operate under the best possible conditions this year. Classes for high school students will be held at Friendship Method ist church and sufficient rooms will be provided at the Bell Street school site' to house the grammar school. Both high school and gram mar school will operate on a double session plan. Under this plan part of the pupils will attend school in the morning and part in the after noon. , At Bell Street school two class rooms have been provided in the shop building and two additional tem porary rooms will be added t.o this buildinc and one room will be housed in the little building already on the ground. The two classes at Bethel School will operate as usual. Tiie necessary equipment will be purchased and repairs made in or der to make this plan operate as efficiently as possible. The opening date for Bell Street school has been delayed one week and will open September 8th instead of September 1st. If a person lives in an adjoining school district and pays taxes on property in Hunter District No. 5 his children may attend the Clinton schools without payment of tuition provided the following requirements are met. 1. A tax receipt must be presented to the office of the superintendent. At the time the tax receipt is pre sented written permission will be given for the child’s entry. 2. Before the child is permitted to enroll this permit must be present ed to the principal of the school the child attends. The requirements to be met be fore a child of a person who liv^s outside Clinton school district and who does not pay taxes on city prop erty or fall within the above cate gory are as follows: 1. Written consent to the transfer to the Clinton Public schools must be procured from the trustees ot school district in which person re sides. 2. Tuition must be paid in full at the superintendent's office of Clin ton Public Schools. Tuition must be paid in adance of admittance to school and in case of withdrawal be fore the close of school year a pro portionate return will be made through the superintendent’s office. Tuition for Grades 1 through 7 is $30. The tuition charge is based on the per pupil cost for operaton and maintenance above the State and Federal funds provided for school purposes. Pupils from out of the district will be placed where the size of the class makes it most desirable. Walters, and Mr. Walters in Fay etteville. N. C. Duncan, Jr., in Decatur, Ala. Clinton Cafe Now Air-Conditioned ( The Clinton Cafe, Cecil P. Wilson, owner, has installed a modern air- conditioning system for the comfort and pleasure of its customers, it is announced in today’s paper. Other improvements have also been made adding to the attractiveness of the .place. Church of God To Hold Revival' A revival will begin Sunday eve ning.
