Blakely, of Clinton, the i^edding to be solemnized in June. CIRCLE MEETS WITH MRS. MURPHY The Ella Riddle circle of Thomwell Memorial Auxiliary met with Mrs. R. G. Murphy on Monday afternoon. An interesting program on Mexico was rendered. Little Miss Caroline Murphy assisted her mother in sei-ving delight ful refreshments. IN HONOR OF MISS YOUNG On Wednesday afternoon Miss Eliz abeth Young was again honored with a beautiful party when Mrs. Oliver Burroughs and Mrs. A. T. Wilson en tertained. About forty guests were present and a dainty salad course fol lowed by a sweet course was served. At the conclusion of the afternoon of bridge Miss Young was presented with an exquisite hand made crepe- de-chine trosseau gift. ENTERTAIN FRIENDS AT PARTIES On Thursday and Friday afternoons Mrs. Wade Sperry and Mrs. George Comelson entertained a number y6f friends at lovely parties. Roses were used in decoration and ten tables were arranged for the guests who enjoyed several rounds of bridge. A salad course with attractive modernistic sandwiches and tea were served. ANNUAL BANQUET THORNWELL HI The Thomwell orphanage graduat ing class of ’29, was delightfully en tertained by Dr. and Mrs. L. Ross Lynn on last Friday evening in their beautiful new home on South Broad street. Covers were provided for twen ty-one. The class colors, pink and White, were effectively carried out in thlB decorations, with lovely roses^ gracilis and ferns adding beauty to tables, nooks and alcoves. The class motto is, “Esse Quam Videri.” The seniors dub themselves the “Lucky Thirteen,’ and are: Collis Land, Roberta Starke, Ralph Rampey, Evelyn Bobbit, Vera Butler, Margie Morgan, Ruby Conrad, Beat rice Campbell, Mildred Coggins, Cor- rinne Watson, Howard Stamps, Ed- This week, May 5^12, is being cele-> brated throughout the country as National Music week. A special effort is being made to bring music into Clinton homes during the week through the music classes in the schools and the pupils of private piano teachers. Music memory contests are being conducted in two of the schools. Prizes "for the winners of these have been offered by the Music club.
