Especially Recom mended by Physicians in Influenza, Severe Colds, Headache, Neuralgia, and Rheumatism.' > -:jr Physicians and druggists arc very enthusiastic over Aspitone, the new and improved aspirin tablets that , are said to be slightly stimulating instead of depressing to the heart. They explain that severe colds, influenza, fevers, headaches, neuralgia and rheumatism are almost invariably attended by a weakness of the heart and require stim ulation rather than depression. Heart failure, they say, is especially to be guarded against in influenza and pneu monia, hence they recommend Aspitone. A gentle laxative with one or two JtabL;ts~o£--Aspitone as needed, is now Secretary of Treasury Urges Citizens to Keep Govern ment Securities Until Shall Have Matured. the physician’s favorite treatment for severe colds and threatened* pneu monia. OFFICIAL TRADE MARK OF THE Yoiio War savings stamps • Carter Glass, Secretary of the Unit ed States Treasury, has issued a warn ing to patriotic American citizens against unscrupulous persons who ad vertise that they are willing to pur chase War Savings Stamps. Mr. tllass does not wish to have the government securities sold at sums below their actual value. He points out that people who are actually in need of money may take their War Savings Stamps to a post office and receive cash. Mrt Glass urges holders to keep their stamps until maturity. He states that War Savings Stamps belong only to the Individual who first purchased them and, that people who offer to buy stamps at low premium are violating the ’etter of the law in so. doing. Men and women selling stamps are not only losing money which- rightfully belongs to them, but are aiding unscrupulous agents to reap profits. D C. CITl BMI m M NEAR CLOSE The city basket hall league com prised of the four class toams of the college, the Orphanage and the "High School i? atxmt closing its season. A number o f very interesting games \ave bden placed some of them end ing with a very close score. The teams seem all to l>e very equally matched as indicated by the very close scores. Last Friday the Orphanage t^am defeated the High School team 12 to 7 thus tying the Junior team for the championship. The standing of the teams is as follows? Orphanage Juniors High School Sophs F resh Won 3 3 2 9 0 I-iOSt i 1 9 Pet. 750 750 500 500 000 IS It Will Settle Nation's War Debts and Will Care for Sick and Wounded. Once in a while some one asks: “What’s the need of another Liberty Loan now that the war is over?” Revenue from taxes will not be suf ficient to pay all the bills, so the people will be called .upon to provide the money by subscribiqg to govern ment bonds. This money‘is going to pay off the army of producers at home —the farmers, merchants, manufac turers and others. The league has brought forth much good material this year and some very fast basket hall games have resulted. At center Fulton of the Juniors and \V. Sinclair of the Orphanage team deserve especial mention. They have both played a good steady game .and have been valuable additions to their Respective teams. At forward, Mason of the High School, Woodruff of, the Sophomores, Piephoft*, R. Sinclair and Bryant of the Orphanage and Wilson of the Juniors have ,l)een the seasons stars. Mason is one of 'the fastest men in the league ' and. his playing has been (lie shining feature, of the High School teams work. The other forwards mentioned are all fast hard players and they have all shown a re markable amohnt of efficiency. At guard Lawrence of the Orphanage has perhaps been the steadiest. His stel lar work has l)een res|K)nsible for hold ing down the scores of the opponents of the Orphanage team throughout the season. Other guards who deserve especial mention fgr tWr—exeelloftt work are, Hunter of the High School, Simpson of the High School and.Hay of the Juniors. The silver loving cup given by the business men of Clinton to the winner each year was won last year by the last years Sophomore team, this years Juniors. This year the winner has not yet been declared. The Orphanage and the Junior teams have an equal record and perhaps will have to play off the tie for the cup. The game will be a very fitst and in- teresting one for although the Orph anage team has already defeated the Junior team once in.the regular league schedule, the score was a very close one, 15 to-12 and an intense friendly rivalry is expected. . - mm / ^miP 1 wpf/f p 0mim ■ "" MW 11 The Sweetest Sleep is Found on The Each coil yields gently to conform to the exact curve and weight of the body above it. Allied leaders expected the war to last another year and the United States government was turning out ships, arms, ammunition and food to overwhelm Germany In one big drive. / Treasifry officials have revealed that in T919 America would have had a tank at the front for every seventy- five feet of line. We would have had ten tons of mustard gas ready for shipment for every ton Germany could produce. Thousands of batter ies of guns would have been in act ion for every one America had in lj)18. Everything else was being produced in proportion. This gigantic preparation, brought an early end to the war and saved thousands of lives. Victory. Liberty Bonds will pay for this work which had been contracted for and was be ing*-delivered when the armistice w r as signed. Thefe are other purposes for which money is need. Part of our army of 2,000,000 men must be kept in Europe until the peace treaty is; signed. These soldiers must be fed. clothed and otherwise maintained. Then they must he brought home. , The sick and wounded must he car ed for in hospitals. The army must be demobilized. There are thousands of maimed soldiers, heroes of the great war, who must be .taught self- supporting trades and given an oppor tunity to earn their livingT - ; , This reconstruction work at home must be carried on.
