At Pices Mill. 1 Large Crowd was Present < at Ike Initial Meeting and ; nthnt was Mack Good Mbf Among Both * W Speakers and Hearers. Dillon connty's first political . gun was fired at Pages M ills Tues- , day. There was a large crowd of substantial citizens of the Pages Mills community out to hear the " speakers and the brief speeches were listened to with marked at?.nfinn An afmnsnhflre of trood I \ t , I fellewship wm felt in the initial 1 meeting: and there was no spice and ginger in the utterances of the candidates. Each candidate presented his claims in a modest and forqiai manner and in many respects the meeting was unlike other meetings of a political nature which the people have been accustomed to attend. That the Pages Mills people are taking a deep interest in what may be termed the first real step in the organization of Dillon county's affairs was evidenced by the liberal attendance at Tuesday's meeting. There were present representative business men and farmers?men whose time at this season of the year is valuable?-and the unflagging interest with which they I listened to the speakers seemed to indicate a desire to correctly measure the ability of the candidates for the Several officer*. The meeting was called to order by Mr. B. F. Edwards and the speakers were announced in the following order: For Clerk of Court: Jno. C. Bethea, Maurice Manning. J. R. Watson. For Treasurer: E. C- Allen, S. i D. Jordan, W. Melnnis. For Auditor: T. L. Bass, C. G. Bruce, F. T. McLellan, H. McRae, J. H. Sedberry H. H Leading in select Fa and Confection.
