New and Old Counties. The following from the Bamberg Herald is of interest to Th< Herald's readers: In his remarks to the grand jury last week Judge R. C. Watts paid this county a fine compliment. He remarked that our county affairs seemed to be in good shape, and that Bamberg was one of the few if not the only county in the State which was oul of debt and had money ahead. Bamberg' is one of the new counties. Twelve years ago il cut off from Barnwell because taxes were too high. Bamberg, like Dillon, was twenty miles from the county seat. Today the people of Bamberg are happy, prosperous and contented and their county is out of debt, while Barnwell's debt i s just whal it \ as 12 vears aco and the lew is just as high. The same maj be said of other new counties. Notice of Election.
