On .Monday afternoon last, about half-pant four o'clock, the chiaincy of the jail caught fire which communicated to the shingles on the roof by the eparks, the wind blowing very freshly. One of the fire engines which hapipencd to be practicing just at the time, -?ooa repaired to the spot, and succeeding in extinguishing the flames before any damage Jiad been done. It was ^ ry fortunate"that the engine was out and ready for work. f ?: Death of an Estimable Citizen* Coh Win. Prakcford died on Mon* lay last, at his residence at Flat Rock. At his particular request, he was 4>uried by his brethren of the Masonic fraternity, on yesterday, aged 83 years. His death is mourned by many relatives and friends. * ? ?~?? Rail Road .Heeling.
