Ayer's Cathartic Pills. fj } s I f IHIi I -i^i Scrofula, or King's Evil, is :> constitutional disease, a corruption of the blood, by which this lluid becomes vitiated, weak, and poor, being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease on any part of it. No organ is free from its attacks, nor is there one which it may J not destroy. 'Use scrofulous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin, it Ls hereditary in the constitution, descending " bom parents to children linfn tlmfhirrl nrtrl fniir'fi rronnvntinn " nTirlwri it seems to be the rod of Him who says, " I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children." Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tubercles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitu- ; tions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases; consequently vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or arc aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people arc scrofulous; their persons are invaded by this lurking in- j fection, and their health Is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in AYER'S Compound Extract of Snrsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this every- i where prevailing and fatal malady. It is combined from the most active remcdials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences. Ilence it should be employ:d for the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affections which arise from it, such as Eruptive and Skin Diseases, St. Anthony's Fire, Hose, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules, Blotches, Bi.ains and Boils, Tumors, Tetter and Salt Rheum. Scald Head, Ringworm, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mercurial Diseases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Dehility, and, indeed, all Complaints arising from Vitiated or Impure Blood. The popular belief in "impurity of the blood" is founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. Ayer's Cathartic Pills, FOR ALL THE PURFOSES Or A FAMILY PHYSIC, i are r-o comnoscd that disease within the ranee of their action can rarely withstand or evade tHem. j their penetrating properties search, and cleanse, and invigorate every portion of the human organism, correcting its diseased action, and restoring i its healthy vitalities. As a consequence of these properties, the invalid who is bowed down with f>ain or physical debility is astonished to find his icalth or energy restored by a remedy at once 80 simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the evcry-day complaints of every body, but also many formidablo and dangerous diseases. The agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Almanac, containing certificates of their cures and directions for their use in the following complaints. Costiver.css, Hcaribvrn, Headache arising from disordered Stomach, Nausea, Indigestion, Pain in and Morbid Inaction of the JJoircls, flatulency, Loss of Appetite, Jaundice, and other kindred complaints, arising from a low state of the body or obstruction I of its functions. This compound? will be found a groat promoter of health, Mien taken in the spring, to expel tlu- foul humors which fester in the blood at that sca^n of the rear. By the timely expulsion of them many rankling disorders arc nipped in the bud. Multitudes can, by the aid of this remedy, spare themselves from the endurance of foul eruptions and ulcerous I sores, through winch the system wiil strive to j I rid itself of corruptions, if not assist, d to do MIS MrOUg'l UIU ll.uurui Liia.iM .i-. ui nr.- uumjt by an alterative medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood whenever you fin.I its impurities bursting through I ho skin in pimpl .s. eruptions, or sores; cleanse it when you find it is obstructed and sluggish in the veins, cleanse it whenever it is foul, and your feelings will tell you when. E ven where no particular disorder is felt, people enjoy better health, and live longer, for cleansing the blood. Keep the blood healthy, and all is well; but with this pabulum of life disordered, there can bo no lasting health. Sooner or later something must go wrong, and the great machinery of life is disordered or overthrown. Sarsaparilla has, and deserves much, the reputation of accomplishing these ends. Hut the world Las been egregiously deceived by preparations of it, partly because the rttug alone has not all the virtue thnt is claimed for it, but more because many preparations, pretending to be concentrated extracts ol it, contain but little of the virtue of Sarsaparilla, or any tiling else During late years the public have lioc-n misled by large bottles, pretending to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most of these have heel frauds upon the sick, lor they not only contain little, if any, Sarsaparilla, but often no curative properties wliatcv cr. Ilencc, bitter and paintul disappointment lias followed the use of the various extracts of Sarsaparillu which flood the market, until the name itself is justly despised, aiitl lias become synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still we call tills compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to supply such a remedy as shall rescue the name from the load of obloquy which rests upon it. And we tliink we have ground lor believing it has virtues which arc irresistible by the ordinary run of the diseases it is intended to cura. In order to secure their complete eradication from the system, the remedy should "be judiciously taken according to direcWons on the bottle. ntEPAKED 15V I>E. J. C. Ai'ES & LOWELL, MASS.
