Jumos Campbell, near Columbia, has been handed us by Mr. Sessums. It is considerably above the ordinary gnuie of Texas sugars, aud in fact, a fine article. We regret to learn that Col. Camp boll's ero)) is a light one this year. Texas Hour is now selling for six dollars in specie in this city. The cause of tho rise in tho prices is the limited amount of Northern flour im? ported from New Oilcans. Those merchants who shipped St. Louis flour here a few months ago, lost money in the speculation, and we are glad of it, for Northern Texas can supply the whole State with as good an article as any manufacturer in St. Louis-besides, the money paid home producers benefits the whole State, while that paid to New Orleans mer? chants never comes back here, and goes to enrich St. Louis millers. We are in favor of the encouragement of home industry. Gov KKX MENT J AIL DELTVEBT.-It is said that the President has ordered the discharge of such prisoners at the Old Capital as were arrested by the detective Baker, and who have been confined there a length of time, with? out any charges being made against them. We are glad to record this action, and trust the Executive will take similar action upon all the places where such prisoners ave held. It is not gratifying to the American people to know that any detective has the power to arrest people and con? fine them at his mere will, for even a short time, much less for a length of time, without making any charges against them. Nor is it consistent with our American ideas of justino that a mau should be allowed to act in that way without being held to accountability.-Philadelphia Ledger.
