England and the Revival of ?-southern Trade. The rapid revival of trade with the South stimu lates the manufacturing districts of England to renewed aotivity. The London Raily Netos, of tho 3d inst., Bays: 'The accounts from our manufacturing dis tricts show that tho oxpoctod rovival of tho trado with the United States has bogun there in earn est. At Manchester an enormous business is be ing dono, both for yarns and cloth. Goods are wanted at once, proposals for tho execution of orders in a fow weeks being received with oxtromo impatienco by shippers, who profer to buy availa ble goods at-a consider able- advance rather than lose the opportunities of an excited market." The News quotes from American journals to show how the Southern trade has grown siuco the war, ended, and adds these remarks: "Nor is it only a rovival of old relations that is now taking place; for tho first time within these thirty yoars the South, no longer having a "pecu liar institution" to screen and defend, daros to treat tho North as ono country with itself, anil in vite its citizens to como with tho energy and capi tal which aro so much needed thero. All the more enterprising of tho Southern States aro calling for the advent of Northern men. Tho civil authori ties and the journalists of Virginia, North and South Carolina, Goorgia, Alabama, Tennessee, 'Kentucky end Missouri earnestly invito immigra tion to their respectivo States, setting forth at ?length tho extraordinary inducements which the i-'fneu order of things" in those rogiona^resonts to -indnatrions and thrifty people. By many of tho (Tc?sel? leaving Now York for points on tho South ern seaboard, as also by inland modes of convey ance, enterprising artisans, mechanics and labor ers leave tho North in considerable numbors, in quest of the employment and fortune which are so enthusiastically promised them. There is nothing since Leo's surronder which more strikingly de monstrates tho magnitude of the revolution which has passed over tbo public than this flow of immi gration into States which very lately wore practi cally closod to tho free emigrant." - ?us Ose of the Boys.?Tho Long Branch correspon dent of tho Now York Times thus chronicles tho feats of a marvelous boy who Bat opposite lum at tho table : , I was greatly amused at dinnor by afT exhibition of the peculiarities of a shoddy family. That tho hotel rogistor showed thn nnmn nf a^.-.*ar i_. __?_i nectluu with this group, I do not assert. I scorn registers. That the head of this family was enti tled by divino right to the name of Cecias T. Shoddy, I do assort. Bo was well enough; shovel ed his food into his mouth with a knife, it is true; but so does many an honest man. airs. Shoddy was resplendent with diamonds, and her stubby, red fingers glittered with many colored jewels; and sho was fat, and not fair, and past forty. But with neither of theso was I "wrapt up." It was with '"that boy." Between tho parents, he sat directly -opposite mo at tho tablo, and I concealed with my napkin the visible .struggle going on within me; I trust no one observed it. Ho was a feeblo urchin, with watery-white eyes and a freckled face, ana ate his food with tho verooity of a starved spaniel, and blinked continually, liko a toad in a rain storm. He gobbled, ho gnawod, and ho clawed. His fin gers were in everything alternately within his reach, including his hair, his coffee, aiul his plate. He scorned knives and forks; or when ho did use them it was with tho. energy of dospair. He would seize a lot of fricasoed chicken in both hands, and as ho removed tho odiblo portion with his teeth, he tosBCd the rejected part over h.is shoulder upon tho floor. Ho got buttor upon his coat-sleeve and he wiped it upon his pantaloons: he, spilled everything within his reach; ho thrust his hand behind him to grab the waitor by the coat and givo bis ordor; and whon anything was neregies for the attack. He had an eye forevery br?ugbt him ho "would scratch hie head thought fully and stare wildly at it while collecting all his thing on tho table, and tho dessert completely non plussed him: "Mar, what's that?" he cried, as a gailv colored blanc mango greeted hie vision. "Ttaai's puddin,' " mar made answer, and "Gimme alot," tho yeung hopeful responded. Only when appealed to. however, did Mrs. Shoddy obsorvo her child; so also Mr. Shoddy. The parental uncon sciousness of that child was Bomothing almost sub lim e. Ho, might have stood on his head,'I think, and'they"would not have wavered. ?. * En oar Foe's Gbave.?The impression that En OAR A. Por-'s grave cannot bo recognized in Balti more, is corrected by a letter fromH_NB*rHEB_tNa to the American of that city. He says: "He was buried in* his grandfather's (David Poe) lot, near tho contre of the graveyard, wherein was buried hie grandmother and sovcral others of tho family. I furnished a neat mahogany coffin, and Mr. Nelson Poe the hack and hoarse. Mr. Nolson Poe, Judge Nolson and myself, together with Mr. Charles outer, the undertaker, woro tho duly per sons attending his funeral. Mr. Edgar Allen Foe was the son 01 tho brother (David Poo. Jr.,) of my first wife, Eliza Poo, and was adopted by Mr. Allen, of Richmond, on tho death of his father and mother in that city. Ho has a sister, Rosalie Poe, now living, who came to Baltimore a'fow days ago in vory indigent circumstanoes. Sho. was also an adopted child in the family of Mr, and Mrs. Mac kenzie, of Richmond, on tue death of her parents." -?? ? -r The Prosbyterians are likely to have a furthoi '-split" on tho subject of slavery. Tho Louisville Presbytery, at its recent session, adopted "a de claration and a testimony," which sets forth thai a churcfl which dabbles In radicalism ?b no longei a true Christian church; and that, unless tho fu ture , General Assembly repeal Its former anti slavory deliverances, tue General Asae'mbly ant Kentucky must part company. -Now, in the Pr?s byterian Synod at prbeent in session, a serios o resolutions*condemning that action have been un der discussion for several days pant. Tho telo graphie dispatch wo published on Saturday state? that they havo boen voted down by a voto of 10: to 25.? That is to say, tho Synod (Statoi stands b tho actiou of the (LiOuIbvUIo) Prosbytory.
