Th?y' attributed'tho great mortality to the crowded state of tho pen, the absence of proper food and .medicino and all facilities for cleanlinees, want of wood, water, clothing, and of shelter from heat and cold,.and the filthy and poisonous condition of tho prison. Bishop Meade, of Virgiuia, in his address to ?tho Episcopal Convention of tho State, now in session at Richmond, has strongly urged reunion with the Nor them wing of the Church. Tho committee. appointed to consider the portion of the address referring to this matter presented a .report, which was almost unanimously adopted by the Conven rtion, commending the conciliatory and fraternal .courso proposed, and referring the subject to the next General Council. Tho French steam corvette Roland arrived in Now York on Friday from Sydney, Cape Breton, making five French war vessels now in port. The steamship Colorada, which sailed irom San Francisco for Panama on Monday last, carriod two million and twenty thousand dollars in gold, of which one million three hundred and fifty thou sand is for Now York. The American Institute Fair building, in Four teenth-street, was crowded last night with visitors, among whom was General Hooker, who divided with the articles regularly on exhibition the inter est of the masa of spectators. He was followed in bis tour of inspection by tho crowd, who insisted on on address. Finally tbe General yieldcd#to their demands, and mado a brief but good humor ed speech. Subsequently he was entertained at a collation iu one of the committee rooms, whero ho made another short address. /T_o European capitalists spent Friday, 32d, in viewing the objects of interest at and in tho vi cinity of Niagara Falls.
