Ou?t thanks arc due to Mr. H. P. I-uoo for copies
of the Savannah Herald of the 11th and 12th insta.
A ConoNEn'fi Inquest was hold yesterday at No.

ItKST-*.?Tho renta of houaea and stores have
gone up to a very high figure in the city, and
many in business arc discussing within thomsolvoa
whether their profit? will be sufficient to meet tho
heavy demands of landlonls. Some out of buai
iu'hh, but prepared to go into it lightly, boing
hacked with limited fund?, are checked in thcout
stftrt )?y tho exorbitant amounts asked for atores.
The. establishment? also, best suited for trade, or,
as it is termed, ?be best "stands," are already
lease?], and the arge sums now demanded are for
comparatively ill-suited buildings, not in the heart
of trade, and with few or no conveniences.

DHL or Mortal-TV. ? The report of tho City
Registrar for the last week gives as the total num
ber of deaths forty-five, <?: which twonty-fivo were
children, and thirteen adult blacks and colored
leaving but six white adults. Of fevers, there
were six deaths of whites?throe grown and three
children, and of dropsy, Four blacks. Tho mor
tality among children appears greater than it ha3
boon for some weeks, probably tho result of the
extreme hot weather from which we have boon
mifloriiig for some time hack. On the whole, how
ever, tho city continue? remarkably healthy, and
wo trust will continue so until the winter seta in,
which is near at hand, aud when all fears of being
visited by diseases of a malignant type must van

Fohwaudino Agency.?In our issue of to-day it
will be seen that Mr. Geouge H. Walteb, of Or

that they continue the forwarding and commission

gentlemen of the country, who possess aptitude
and arc men of responsibility, engaging in a mat

railroads are in an imperfect atate.
By reference to an advertisement of Mr. John
A. Michel, in another column, the profession, law

that they can be served by calling on him. Mr.
M. is ono of the oldest practising surveyors of
this city (over fifteen years), and possesses, by
purchase, tho papers of the lato lt. K. Payne,
John Diamond, and many other eminent surveyors.
Those desirous of securing his professional ser

Jewelry, Fancy Goods, Ac? On yesterday we
dropped into the sture of Mr. Wit. G. Wuilden, at
the north corner cf King aiidBeaufaiu-streets, and
in tho rapid glance which we took at the interior
of the establishment, were much pleased with his
varied stock of goods. The housekeeping arti
elc.i with which he has supplied his atoro wo judge
io he of the bout kind and quality, aud should de
mand the attention of all in want of such thiDgs.
C. D. AnnENS A Co.?This old and well estab
