The week of weeks with Willinm stonians has conn- and gone, ami its ph-asant memories arc still lingering inila- heurts of many. Thc pupils ol' Miss Keeley, who has charge or the Art Department of W. F. C., treated thcii friends to an exhibition of their handy work. I notice, that thc ladies especially were delighted with thc beautiful paintings and elegant china work. As noted in a recent INTELLIGENCER, tlie rich bill of fare to which our town and a number of visitors were treated, was begun on Tuesday evening by a masterful address delivered by Ii. F. Martin, Esq., a rising young attorney of Anderson. This address was de livered to tho pupils and patrons of tho Williamston Male Academy. Prof. Goodgion is being congratulated on his selection of a speaker for the occa sion. The young gentlemen of this Behool assembled in the spring park, where they formed in line and marched to the seats reserved for them imme diately in front of the stage. I will ?ive the readers of the INTELLIGENCER Ir. Martin's address in a con denced form next week. It is a literary trent that will be enjoyed by ninny. I heard the highest authority say that Prof. l?cuibcrc would have to ?ct up soon to get ahead of Mr. Martin, i'hc opinion ot this authority next evening was that Prof. Rembort bad not over slept himself, as thc ?Stats* gifted correspondent expresses it. His masterful address was a plea for thc study of Greek, and he proved that thc truest culture in modern times derives its origin from the old Greeks, and by ninny examples cited from literature and history ho showed that to the Hellenic influence wns due the finest und choicest and noblest in art, music, literatim- and all tho aesthetic quali ties which distinguished the educated, cultured mind from thc uncouth soul of "uHture." A meeting of the Board of Trustee? was held Thursday morning. Mrs? Malone, of New York, was elected! principal of thc music department, vice Miss Francis Mattiee, resigned. Thc resignation of Miss Clara Bagley was accepted and Miss Coaklin, of Walterboro, was elected tn her stead. For thirteen years Miss l?agley has held tho chair of English and French in our Female College and our people uro much attached to her. and trust that her health will soon bo restored so that she can again resume the duties [)f her much loved profession. A mass meeting in interest of the Alumnae lecture course was held Thursday afternoon und Rev. M. B. Kelly, ot St. Paul's Methodist Church, U reen ville, and Dr. John C.Wilson, editor of Southern Christum Advovatc, iiddressed tho audionce. Bishop Wil son, of Baltimore, preached tho bac calaureate sermon and took for bia text, "And now abideth Faith, Hope. Charity, these three, but tho greatest of these is Charity." Limited space forbids going into details ou this won derful sermon, for a mere synopsis could not do the subject justice. At the end of the service the President of the College announced that Miss Jessi** Wright McKelvey, Helen Hoke Gaines and Ruth Rush, three blight young: ladies of Williamston, liad completed/ their course und accordingly presented their diplomas. So ended tho cosa mencement exercises of tho year 1900. Revs. S. Lander, l>. I)., F. M. Lan der, M. P., and Prof. G. S. Goodgion are now enjoying Walford Commence ment together with Revs. A. J. Can thon, Jr., of Allendale, W. R. 1 hu bert, of Newberry, and A. V. Harbin, of Arizona, wno wore hero to listen to Bishop Wilson. _ ll. BROOKS GoarxuoN. Have you ever tried one of Sullivan Hdw. "DEAN'S PATENT FLOUR ECLIPSES ALL OTHERS!" THIS H the message Hashed through the great telescope which we got from Lack Observatory to observe the great eclipse. We knew that, however, several years ago. We-originated that brand and advertised to too long ago for thc fresh inhabitant? of a Jbreign planet to presume now to claim the hon or of it. This we can prove by the thousands* of pleased customers we have made on that brand and held them over all competition throughout the eight years we*vo been prescribing ib as a balm for all the- woes weak stomachs are a prey to. We wish only to put the eating public on notice that there is then but one genuiue angorigina* DE IN'S PATENT FLOUR, and thai is sold by us. All other iiaitationa are spurious, no matter where they come from It is nevertheless a noteworthy fact that DEAJSTS PATENT does totally eclipse all other flours-a fact admitted by all, but first proven by its great merits wherever tvied side by side with others. Tho facts in the case are that we are just eclipsing all competition, if m ever had any. That*s another big eclipse, j Just watch the FLOUR, MEAT, CORN and TOBACCO !
