Big Cotton Yield. Mr. \Y. T. Mc-! Lees of Townville, has picked 121 hales of cotton from seven acres and ' will pet another one. This is an old alfalfa patch and is very fe~tile. The excess nitrogen in the soil was balanced by the application of a fertilizer high in phosphorus. Yields like this ar > not common this year due to un- 1 favorable weather condition.",. Mr. Me Lees has only six acres of X-otton fllanted to th? mule this year. He has always practiced a*well balanced system of farming which in- i eludes foodvand feed crops to provide j the necessary feeds for the livestock anti food for the families on the farm. This year Mr. McLeas had over fifteen ' r.eies planted to Sudan grass and other ! "grasses and acre-: and acres of velvet! beans, peas, etc.. for hay and soil | building. While I believe the boll weevil will be-destructive in Anderson county and ' with average weather conditio;.s we ;yc in for our maximum infestation next year, I do not t>elicvc that there is any necessity for a farmer like Mr. McLees to reduce his cotton acreage from what it is now. rnose wno nuvfought the weevil and won in other ( sections have done it on the same basis . that Mr.* McLees is farming. The j tight has never been successful on any other basis.?Anderson Daily Mail. ? Dr C. M.
