WIDESPREAD DISASTER Texas Rood Damage Extends Over 10,000 Square Miles. Houston, Texas, Sept. 12.?Reports of loss of life and property damage olhcr than at San Antonio as a result of Friday night's deluge mounted steadily today with restoration of communication into the central Texas flood district, It has been estimated that an, area extending north as far as Georgetown, south to below San Antonio, wist to San Marcos and east to I Calvert and Rryan, or approximately J 10,000 jiquure miles, felt the effect of flood waters. Thirteen persons, mostly tenants in the lowlands, are known to be dead with a possibility of this being increased when more accurate reports are avuJluble. Property loss is regarded us almost beyond estimate. It is beliWed that i the loss of growing crops may run into millions of dollars, while livestock losses will account for hundreds of thousands of dollars more. Georgetown reports two persons dead and three missing with property damage of approximately half a million dollars. Sixteen inches of rain in 24 hours sent all streams out of bounds ] and cattle and cotton in the lowlands are a total loss. At Bastrop, in Brazos county, the Colorado river went over her Uinks Saturday ivight and did great crop damage.
