The buggy was overturned. Mrs. Youngblood and Miss Lunette Younghlood received rather painful, though not serious injuries. while. Miss Reola Youngblood escaped with a few minor bruises. Charged With Malicious Mischief. P. O. Purvis, textile operative of Rock Hill, has been bound over to the court of general sessions under $500 bond by Magistrate J. F. Win gate of Catawba township, to answer a charge of malicious mischief. According to testimony given'the magistrate, Purvis was intoxicated fn Rock llill last Saturday n^ht when he was accosted oy two suungc ..iC.. wanted to {five him a drink. They invited him into a freight caboose in the railroad yards and there, it is said, they tried to i;ob him of $7. Purvis is said to huve handled his two' assailants rather roughly and in doing the job he tore up things in the tab quite a hit. Charged With False Pretense. Charged with obtaining money under false pretenses, a. warrant was issued yesterday b.v Magistrate Fred C. Black for the arrest of Lester P. Lipe, automobile garage man of Yorkville. The warrant, was sworn out on complaint of E. M. Russell of Bethesda township who alleges that * Lipe charged him for automobile repairs'in the amount of 350 which he did not make. It is charged that Lipe claimed he put certain new parts in Russell's automobile which had been brought to him for repair which later investigation showed that he did not make. x Five Bodies to Be Brought Home. Bodies of five Fort Mill men who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting with the Thirtieth Division on the Hindenbiirg line in France dur\ ing the late World war are to be brought back to their home in that town for burial. In all seven Fort Mill men lost their lives during the war. Bodies of Sergeants Tom Hall and Ell Bailes who were amuuK ?.? ?seven were buried at Fort Mill Sunday after lying in France.two years. ' Ran Amuck With Truck. Chief of Police John Jackson of Clover wants one Florence Davis. | negi-o of Gastonia, to answer a charge J of reckless driving. Davis is charged with going through the main street of Clbver Sunday driving a heavy truck at a reckless rate of speed. He crashed into a. buggy in which John Reed was riding and damaged the buggy pretty badly as well as shaking I Reed up considerably. The chief was I unable to stop Davis who kept on his way. ? Former Secretary of State Lansing is out in a book in which he explains that the reason of his being kicked out of the cabinet was because he had from the beginning advised the president of the unwisdom of going to Paris as a member of the peace conference. He undertakes to emphasize at length the disadvantage under which the president labored rin working for an ideal while all the others were working for practical advantage.
