^ : : ? A cas# of a man's heart ceasing to beat for 14 hours and then resuming: work is reported; fi'om Berne, Switzerland. where a pastor, of that city. Reverend Mr. Baudepjmcker, after being officially declared dead suddenly awpke. The., JSTe'verend Mr. Bnudenbacher, aged yO and suffering fi/nu heart trouble .of long standing fell senseless Friday. His physician issued a death' certificate, arrangements wore made r'of 'the funeral and Saturday's newspapers published eulogies of him. The ..pastor awoke after 11 hours, surprised. to find his bedroom filled with flowers, wreaths, discon solute relation'^ and friends. ' He said wtiikly: -''My tfall has not yet come." 1\he funeral ,hhs been postponed indefinitely as tVie doctor said, the Reverend ;Mr. Bdiulenbacher might, live many years. ' ' ' fecial JfotiMS. f Garjl of^Thanks. ? -'.Wo desire 1 to express " our heartfelt gratitude to'the host of friends whose manifestations'rif'lovc arid tender solicitude gladdened arid cheered us and'our dear one, Mary-Belle Good, all through her long illness arid the 'kind expressions of sympathy\for us in the great loss we -sustained by her death. ? Her Loved Ones. Sharon, S. C., March 19. . It* Miss Ella J. Neely. An Appreciation. She was-goingv to school. And of that interrupted journey we can never forget the marvellous fortitiide and tlie unfailing -love and consideration that marked the brief and agonizing phth of pain she" trod before unconsciousness mercifully claimed her. We wp.yl.d not forget iL "Our hearts in giad surprise to higher levels rise" because of. her,..high..courage. And we;may not speait qi ine niuden life spent at. ijome where she pavp herself in unsparing devotion. Jt is richly shrined in .remembering hearts and .cherished by, those to whom she ministered. But we may: speak?for here we are allVher heavy debtors?of tiiat great vork of hers with the children. Jt is a lonely heart that does not shelter one child, and we all know that children hold the key of the future. For twenty yenrfc she taught the boys and | girls laying a deep, thorough and honest .foundation for.their future education to rest on: at the same time building even 'deeper in their plastic lives, the principles she daily exemplified of honor, truth, justice and democracy. For her "profession never outran her possession." She was essentially fairminded?just and generous to an unusual degree. Critical also when that became necessary?but lenient tn nthsrs' and n-nsnaring to her self. She taught the control of spirit that she practised; and children heed no other teaching. {lut of her own great work she seemed unaware. Al, most we can imagine her surprise when she found that for her "school was out." and answered "Adsiun" not in "her . accustomed place but face to face with the' Great Teacher in that School - : "Where only the Master shall praise us, and only the Master shall blame, , Where no one shall work for money, and no one shall work for fame: But each for the joy of working, and each, in his separate star.
