? The hardest fought murder case in South Carolina in years ended in Anderson on Thursday of last week, when John C. Ellison, a farmer said to be worth J 100,000, was convicted of manslaughter and was sentenced to serve seven years in the state penitentiary. On. March 13, Ellison killed a farmer named Hunt in Ellison's store. The motive of the killing was never brought out in the trial. Ellison gave bond of $7,000 pending an appeal to the supreme court.
