Public Invited. v It Committee. d A Statement. In the report of the Grand Jury to the presiding Judge, mention was made that H. E. Johnson, magistrate ? of Bethel township had failed to docket the case of the state vs. Alex Cook for cock fighting. Since that report was made and published, I have ex' amined the docket of Magistrate Johnson and find that the Defendant Cook was not charged for cock fighting but was charged with "cruelty to animals," the offense being fighting cocks with steel Gaffs (the same being the offense Mr. Sanders alluded to in his report to the Grand Jury.) The ai docket shows Cook was tried, convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of 84 Ten Dollars. The case was appealed n, to the circuit court. The appeal was dismissed and fine collected and paid dl to the county treasurer. I make tnis sj statement In justice to M&istrate ' Johnson. M. L. CARROLL* Foreman of the Grand Jury. Nov. 27. 1911. ai _j. Fifteen Cents For Your Cotton. Farmers Who Have Been Hoping for 10c Will Greet the Good News With Rejoicing. When the cotton season first opened the farmers thought they would be _ lucky to get 12c for their fleecy staple, but the bears on the New York exchange manipulated things so well, from their point of view, that before one-fourth of the crop was harvested the market went below 10 cents, and in this manner the sharks of Wall street robbed the hard working southern farmer of his Justly earned money. The decline did not stop at 10c, but kept descending, until today cotton is selling in Yorkvllle at and below 9 cents. To counteract the direful effect of ) 9-cent cotton and avert a possible repetition of the awful "panic year," the Sj allied commercial and industrial world , should align themselves with the farmer. ^ A Yorkvllle concern of established ^ reputation, a concern directly Inter- or ested in the welfare of the farmer, is announcing in this issue a plan where hy trie rarmers 01 ima scvuuu realize 15 cents for their cotton, even If the buyers only give 9 cents for It. and this is the enterprising store of J. Q. Wray. The page ad we are running announcing the opening of the great Piercing Arrow Sale, with its many advantages, tells the tale with _ all the strength of simplicity. When this store makes an announcement the people take notice?it's always known that when J. Q. Wray goes after the business he does not hesitate to cut the price, and always "makes good" on what is advertised, and this time they are really outdoing all former records with their unusual liberalness. 0f When the statement is made that you can realize 15 cents for your cotton by attending this sale, you can bank on that being the facts In the case. The sale has been well advertised, and th? opening next Saturday will be, without question, a big one. ar Jhe (Totton JRarhei. Yorkvllle, Nov. 28.?Cotton 8.81Jc. ** New York.
