SHARON SHAVINGS. Town In a Building Mood and Is Contemplating Big Things. Correspondence The Torkville Enquirer Sharon, August 29.?The Hill Banking and Mercantile company has decided to build a new home for its business and when completed it will be the largest, most convenient and substantial building occupied by a single mercantile establishment in this pari of the state, its dimensions being 65 feet front. 120 feet long and four stories high, including the basement. While it is a fact that plans and specifications j, have not as yet been fully worked out by an architect, still Mr. Hill has his mind pretty well made up as to the general arrangement of the building. The major portion of the brick, about 500,000 will be required, have already been burned and the balance will be ready by the time they are needed, and all of them will be made by Mr. Hill, limit a nf ShfL VV II11111 uic iiivut puiavv ? ? * ?? w? w?? ron. The work of hauling sand has been in progress for sometime and the actual work of building will start during the next few days, the first thing being the digging of the basement, provided the weather continues favorable, otherwise it will be postponed. Mr. Hill also expects in the near future to erect a handsome and commodious dwelling. The contract for erecting Sharon's new school building was awarded to Mr. Will Blair several days ago, and he <s now engaged in doing necessary preliminary work, and hopes to commence laying brick tomorrow. The building complete. Including furniture, is exnected to cost about $fi,500. The school grounds, recently donated by Mr. Hill, and valued at about $800, are not included in the above estimate. Mr. S. B. Prett has about finished the brick work <>n his two story store building. 70 by 27 feet, on the same lot occupied by the frame store building he has been occupying since he first came to Sharon. The work has been done "bv the dav." under the personal supervision of Mr. Pratt and the first brick was laid on the afternoon of August 10. Mr. John L. Rainey has awarded the contract for erecting a one storv brick building, to contain two store rooms on his lot on the west side of Shelby street, to Mr. Sam McCall or Clover. It is the understanding1 that work on this building will be commenced on next Monday, September 4. Shannon & Hope have recently moved into their handsome new two story hrick building on the west side of Shelby street. It is safe to say that no town in the state, save some that may have been burned up by a conflagration, has come so near being rebuilt as has Sharon during the past two years. On the first day of July. 1909, there was not a brick house of any kind in the town, and since that time, commencing with the bank building and store room of Mr. R. H. G. Caldwell, nine have been completed and are oeing occupied, while four more are either in course of construction or will be during the next two weeks. AT THE CHURCHES. PRESBYTERIAN. Davy was a wise man. as millions who have gone ahead without knowing whether they were right, both before and since his day, would testify were they given an opportunity. I have made it my business during tne past twelve years to try to induce men who had made up their minds to buy life insurance, to Look Before Leaping, and investigate the standing, record and policy contracts of the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company. Some have taken my advice, while others have not. All who have made a thorough and impartial investigation and have insured in the company?and the number includes not less than 95 per cent of the investigators?are sure they have the best there is in life insurance, while many of those who leaped and then looked have lived to regret their failure to look before leaping, and in many instances have rectified their original blunder by also joining the Mutual Benefit Host, while many others, if they keep their health and keep on living, will yet do so; anyway they have assured me that such was their purpose. Ask to be shown \vherein the Mutual Benefit Is Different from other companies. Wise men attend to the matter of securing Muenefit Policies with as little delay as possible. SAM M.
