A Day of Fasting and Prayer.?A day of fasting and prayer will be observed uniformly throughout the general synod of the Associate Reformed 9 Presbyterian church about the middle of April. This diversion on the part of the Seceders comes about as a result of a resolution adopted by the First presbytery in recent special session in Charlotte, when the proposition was submitted by one of the ministers. The resolution calling for a day of ( prayer and fasting was premised by the exceedingly large mortality among the ministers of this denomination within recent months, about twelve of both prominent and successful ministers having been removed by death during this brief Interval of time, and further by the superior and growing need of more laborers in the liehl. The resolution was forwarded to the moderator of the synod. Rev. S. W. Haddon of Spottswood. Va.. who was asked to consult the moderators of nrocKvtoiMpg !IS t?l suit &l ble day to sot aside f<?r prayer and fasting, and corresponlenee is now in * progress looking toward the selection of some day that will be acceptable to all the churches in all the presbyte- , lies. It is anticipated from the present progress reached in the matter of , correspondence, that some day about the middle of the month will be set < ? aside which the congregations throughout the entire synod will spend in devotion and fasting.
