Shumate, of Atlanta, has located in Yorkville, with a view to representing the interests or rne renu Mutual Life Insurance company in the town and vicinity. He is stopping.at Captain E. A. Crawford's. Although . one of the largest, strongest and most reliable insurance companies in the entire country, the Penn Mutual is-comparatively new in this immediate section. A few months ago Messrs. Bagley & Willets, of Atlanta, who are general agents for Georgia and South Carolina, determined to give closer attention to the Piedmont section of this state, and with that end in view placed Mr. J. E. McCullough in charge of a general office at Spartanburg. Mr. McCullough is organizing his territory for an active campaign in the interests of the Penn Mutual, and for the present Dr. Shumate will be pleased to answer all inquiries and give full information as to the* quality of insurance this company has to offer. A Trip to the Moon Company. The Palace of Electric Wonders, which opened its doors to the public last Wednesday evening, has been playing to full houses at every performance, the greater proportion of patrons being ladies and children. One may well call the little palatial theater "electric wonders." It is a blaze of glory and the management deserves nnd continued patronage. A strong feature of the entertainment is the novelty dances by Miss Madison, her dancing is particularly refined and - artistic, and hei? costumes are marvels of beauty, which are greatly enhanced by the wonderful electrical effects, Mr. Will George, the" young and talented baladist, with his sweet musical baritone, rendered the most descriptive solos that have ever been heard in Charleston. His favorite song, "I'm Wearing My Heart A,way for You," given with expression and ease, is greeted by appreciative audiences with enthusiastic applause. 4 _____________________________________________ Confederate Veteran*' Reunion. Mr. Strauss bought large quantities of Sheetings, Calicoes, Bleachlngs, etc., which usually come under the head of '"Staples." He found that the market prices of all staples were considerably higher than at this time last season, in sympathy with the price of cotton, but by careful watching and hunting, backed with the ready cash?and cash still talks In the markets?he was enabled to buy thousands and thousands of yards of staples at prices that ruled a year ago. We propose to give our customers the advantage of Mr. Strauss's buying and everybody can rest assured that when our staples arrive there will be goods here at prices that cannot be touched by any house in this whole section. I have given years of study to this especial line and I can say with pride that my work will compare favorably with that of any photographer in this t section. i The best and most perfect photographs are the result of experience and not experiments. I do all of my developing, retouching and finishing, thereby obtaining the best possible results. As Far As Prices Are concerned, you. need not worry yourself along that score. HEATH & CO, General Merchandise. New Spring t Goods. THE spring season is now on. For absolute conviction on this proposition the customer has only to visit our store. We have the occular demonstration. Although it is' true that one swallow does not make a summer, it is equally true that the arrival of a half a dozen car loads of new goods from the northern markets is a pretty good sign of the opening of the spring season. These goods have arrived and are still arriving. During the past few days our entire corps of assistants have been up to their eyes in work opening boxes and bales and arranging their contents in shelves and on tables for the inspection of our customers. < A Tremendous StockWe have positively bought this year the largest spring stock we have ever attempted to handle. We believe the trade demands it, and we know it is our mission to meet the demands of the trade. " There never has been any 1n U/vi<4 iVin AAfl/llliAi AlIM Ad LIIXUUlLjr ttUVUl LUC LUI1UUVL Ul vUl CO' tablishment, and believing as we did that more goods were needed, we have laid in what we believe our customers want. All that we ask now is that the people generally come in and take a look at what we have, to offer. The goods and the prices will do the rest. Details Not Practicable. It -is out of the question to go into letails at this time. Although bending 'very energy to that end, we have not /et succeeded in establishing the orler and system which always becomes :he first and most pressing task after :he receipt of such a stock as we are low getting in. Again, while there lave already been several car loads :his week, up to this writing, hardly lalf of the stock has yet arrived. But itill we have enough in quality and variety to Interest anybody and to nake a trip to our store worth their vhile. We have great piles of new Spring Clothing In stock of all qualities md all prices, and we have also the jrettiest line of Spring Underwear hat we have ever seen.
