The convicts, in some way, managed to exchange their stripes lor citizens' clothes and walk away. They are still at large. Yesterday, Mr. W. H. Stewart drove the last nail in the Industrial college. It is finished aud the Rock Hill people look forward with a great deal of interest to the opening of the college, which is booked for the 15th instant, although there is a conflict with the reconvening of the constitutional convention, since Governor Evans, Hon. B. R. Tillman aud other notables are to tuke a prominent part in the opening exercises of each. Last week Will Thomasson, while working at the ginnery of Mr. J. R. Neisler, accidentally got ids arm caugtit in the brush wheel, resulting in a laceration of the mau's arm. Work on the Arcade and Manchester Cotton mills is well under way and progressing rapidly. Mr. Ed McCounell has returned from Camden and will leave here for Baltimore in two weeks to complete his course in dentistry. Misses Fernie Carroll and Pearla Iumati, of Bullock's Creek, visited frieuds here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Falls, of King's Mountain hare returned home after a visit the family of Mr. W. N. Ashe. Mr. J. F. Ashe came home from the convention very ill with the grippe. Mr. A. F. Lindsay has been sick with chills. Dlspenaary Law Sustained. In the United States circuit court at Charleston, last Wednesday, Judge Simonton rendered the decision in the case of Lowenstein & Co., of Statesville, N. C., who tried to have the dispensary law declared unconstitutional on the ground of it being a monopoly. The decision sustains the law and the suit was dismissed.
