BLACKSBURG BUDGET. The Weather?Work Resumed on the Phouphate Plant?Major Jones In AtlantaStudying Medicine?Good Health has Prevailed. Correspondence of the Yorkvllle Enquirer. Blacksburg, October 3.?A considerable change has come over the weather during the past 10 days in the matter of temperature, and we are having almost wiutry mornings with delightful autumn days. Several light frosts have nipped the potato and pea vines. The only disagreeable feature of the condition is the great quantity of dust which meets one in every passing breeze. We still hope for rain, however, and think we will have an abundance of it iu a few days. Work on the large phosphate plant, which has been suspended temporarily, was resumed Tuesday moruiug and will be pushed to completion. Major John F. Joues, who has contributed so many hue specimens of minerals to the South Carolina exhibit at Atlauta from this section of the State, has been given charge of the entire exhibit of minerals of the State, and will spend much of bis time during the exposition in Atlanta. Ou Saturday, Mr. Sage Hardin left for Atlanta to attend medical lectures at the Southern Medical college, and Sunday evening, Mr. Sam Deal boarded the vestibule for Baltimore to become a student at the University Medical college in that city. Both of the young men pursued their medical ^studies while here, under the direction of Dr. W. Anderson, and both have the sincere wishes of hosts of friends for success and distinction in their chosen profession. Mr. B. J. Gold is on a visit to friends and relatives in Cleveland county, N. C. Our town and county has been quite healthy this summer and autumn, with the exception of two or three cases of typhoid fever, and a very mild form of influenza, the latter probably caused by inhalation of the dust, laden with decayed and pulverized vegetable matter. BACCING & TIES IS not the name of any firm doing business iu this community, that I know of; hut for a long time I have noticed that they were closely associated together, especially at this season of the year, when the fleecy staple has "squared" itself and is preparing an "opening" for market. In fact these two commodities are almost inseperable. Where you find BAGGING, thore you will find TIES. Especially is this true at RIDDLE'S, where 21,000 pounds?nearly ELEVEN TONS?have settled on their own grounds and as for: BAGGING, I have yards, yes hundreds of yards, verily I believe miles. When you want either, or both, call on me for figures. SHINGLES AND LIME. We keep on hand a large supply ot SHINGLES and LIME, and when you want either of the above articles, you will save money by coming to us. We get Shingles and Lime by the carload, and we don't expect to let the supply run short. RUBBER AND LEATHER BELTING Of various widths, for Gins, Sawmills and other machinery, always on hand at bottom prices, and parties who need goods of this kind, can do no better than consult me before purchasing. MY FLOUR IS BEST. And some people claim that their flour "is as good as Riddle's," which is acknowledging the superiority of ours. We bought our Hour when it was at the lowest notch, consequently, we can, more so than ever, make it to your interest to consult us about flour. BEFORE I FORGET, I will say that I am still selling TWENTY POUNDS OF GRANLATED SUGAR FOR ONE DOLLAR, and almost as many pounds of anything else as you may want.
