Thc proprietors of the Planter's Ware lusfc, who never do things by halves, ive erected an awning-frame large ough for a good sized house. When ey spread their canvas, ve trust they ill s^il with fair winds and arrive in ic time at thc Haven of Prosperity. A HICE VEGETABLE. saw last week, a Cabbage from sd sown this year in the open air lich weighed twenty-one pounds. It is from thc garden of Capt. E. W. OISE. These MOISES are some on getables, but oe they claim to be Bcended in direct HDC from Adam, S first gardener on record, we presume is in the blood. LET L'S HAVE LIGHT. What has become of the projected poitue Company ? Thc experimental htiogs were very satisfactory, the ?initiation being tully equal to the lt coal gas. Among other things we informed that a lively French Play, estated by a distinguished pupil, will performed. Some fir e music always Companies the exhibitions of this ular establishment. THE FINE AKTS IV SUMTER. e have been favored with a view of o and pencil drawing by Mr. HORN, advertisement appears io another mo. Tho picture represents a Polar r catching a Seal, from a celebrated kby "Buike." Mr HORN informs os it be executed this copy ia two hours, evidence of rapid and skillful work fica is Almost incredible. We hare > seeo specimens of his penmanship eh prove him to be a master of the L Mr. Hour is also a professor of tiers Languages, aod if he is as ?liar with this breach M be is profi cieot in Drawing, Writing and Music, his acquirements must be extensive. We have heard Mr. HORN on tho j Piano, and can recommend him ais a skillful and finished performer. This gentleman contemplates spending j a few months in ocr town and will gtfej lessons as per advertisement. A3?ATEUH CONCERT; The estimable and popular Mrs. GREEN, assisted by some of her pupils, gave a concert recently which did credit to her and to them. We would not feel justified in mentioning the names of the fair performers, but will venture to say that tbe vocal and instrumental music were of au uncommonly high order The audience, though small, (much smaller than it ought to have been) was highly discriminating, and showed their ad? miration by frequent and hearty ap? plause. Many of the pieces were encored "The Conquered Banner" was received with an enthusiasm that reminded us of theday8 of'"Dixie." THE RABBINICAL CONFERENCE. A well informed Israelite of our town, warns us not to attach any importance to the handful of Radical Rabbins who recently met at Porkopolis. He tells us that only two Clergymen of any talent were present. The Conference represented the ex? treme radical wing of modern Judaism, of which Dr. WISE, of Cincinnatti, is the acknowledged leader. They ack? nowledge neither Past nor Future, and are without influence with the vast majority of Iraelities in the United States. Dr. WISE is tho author of an infidel work which will fix his position io theology asido of Voltaire and Tom Paine.
