The publication of the oiroular of this valuable school gives us an opportunity lo call the attontion of the publio to its advantages. The ladies who constitute this "facul? ty" pr- ent a rare combination of talent tod acquirements. Mrs. LAURA A. BROWNE, the principal, is too well known in this community to require toy endorsement by us. Her thorough ?education and high charaoter, eminent? ly qualify ber for the delicate and im rt:iot duties ot her position, while ber ffectionate disposition and mild and cutlo manners cause her pupils to love much aa they respect her. It is a fortunate thing for parents bat they have, in this institution, a lace where they may leave their toghtcts either as Boarding or Day ! chotara, with entire confidence, under)] ho maternal care of a lady so worthy | od accomplished. Miss ELIZA COOPER bas charge of c writing department, and with Miss LLEN WILSON, teaches the younger ildren. She is well qualified for the siUon, being firm but mild in disci p- ? oe, and thorough in education. Miss ILSON is a general favorite with Molars and parents, and is a good, '??ful and kind teacher. Utin, French, Arithmetic and Alge* are taught by Miss LAURA MO? BUN, a lady of fine attainments and til qualified for her important duties. Soi Pearson, the negro who was tried for larceny at the last term of Marlboro' court, found guilty, und sentenced to the Penitentiary, has recently been released by order of Gov. Scott, and is now back in our midst, and is perhaps looking out for another chanco to steal. This is the course the Seott 'Ring' will doubtless eontinue to pursue to seoure votes. Soi is a ounning thief, and may succeed in stealing a few votes for the Seott 'Ring;' if they cannot be secured any other way. And hence we suppose the eause of his release.-[BenncUsvillc Journal. General Robert E. Lee has refused, on behalf of Mrs. Lee, to accept the annuity of 93,000 settled upon her by the trustees ot Washington College. The Board howevet, bas, as delicately aa possible, intimated to him that they must adhere to their original plan. "Mamma/' said a wee child, one Sun? day evening, ofter having sat still in the house all day, like a good child, " have I honored you to day ?" "I don't know," replied the mother, "why do you ask ?" "Beeauso," says the little one, shaking her head sadly, "the Bible says, 'Honor thy father and mother that thy days may be long,' and this baa been, oh, the longest day I ever saw." Some of the Radical journals North who helped to fix the thing that way now profess to be startled at Akermao's doctrine that "Congress has the right to compel a State to niter her constitu? tion." If they baok out from that, they back out from Radicalism itself, for such is its very essence. An ezohange says " General Butler acknowledged that between him and Mr. Farnsworth there was bad blood." The World, ol Tuesday, is sensational upon the ?oe question. Everybody is getting short, hot and furious, except the ioe dealers, who, as might be ex? perted, are extremely cool and having got up a corner, not only demanded 11.50 per hundred, but give very light weight *t that. The Winnsboro Nows predicts that in ten years the Southern whites, unless the negroes themselves prevent it, will shauipTon negro suffrage as giving them power in the Union, against a powerful inti negro party at the North. - ?4?
