Applo Growers' Association Formed. The most enthusiastic orchard meeting ever held in Oconee county took? place last Friday, Nov. 17, at Walhalla. At this meeting the Oco nee Apple Growers' Association was formed, with' tho following ofllcers chosen for tho ensuing year: I). E. Good, of Walhalla, president; J. N. That Oconee county is to be tho great apple growing centor of South Carolina is tho opinion voiced by Messrs. Hoffmann and Schilletter, extension horticulturists, of Clem son, who were present at tho meet ing. In colpr and exquisite flavor the apples around the foothills of Oconee cannot bo surpassed by any section of United Slates, according to theso experts. Tho wonderful apple grow ling section around , Cornolla and Baldwin, Ga., was visited by many prospective lorchardjists lof Oconee county the past' summer, nod it was their opinion that this section offors tho same wonderful opportunities in climnto and soil. Tho now association will not un dertnko to market apples for its members until tho new orchards I como into bearing, but will assist t ho I members in securing trees, spraying material and -?thor orchard necessi ties at a saving.
