Seneca, July 0.-Special: On the 23d and 24th of Jhls month the Wo man's Missionary Union of the Bea verdam Baptist Association will meet with the society of the Seneca Bap tist church. The societies of tho association that aro not members of the union aro ihvlted to send repre sentatives, two from each society, who will be entertained as guests of thc union. There will be two busi ness sessions each day, with lunch served on the grounds. Mrs. C. 10. Watson, of Greenville, and Mrs. CUnkscales, of Anderson, will bo present and make talks. Tho meet ing promises to be one of great profit and pleasure, and the members of the various societies of other denomi nations in town are invited to attend the meetings, making the social fea ture a delightful part thereof. Dele gates should send their names promptly to Mrs. F. M. Cary that homos may bo provided. The summer school goos on smoothly and Interest is unabated. Seneca is enjoying having tho teach ors. regarding their presence as a! real privilege. It was a source of regret that Miss Goldsmith, teacher of primary methods, had to leave last week, as she was universally popu lar. Seneca people, particularly the pa trons of our school, regret exceed ingly st ho loss of Superintendent Brocknmn, who has decided to give up teaching. He will go to Westmin ster and engage in merchandising. While we regret the loss of Mr. Brockman and lils most estimable wife, wo wisli them success in the change. They have proved a most valuable acquisition to Seneca lu every way, and we send with them to Westminster the good will of our people. Several boys from Seneca and the community will stand the examina tion for Clemson scholarships next Friday at tho Court House. News was received hero last week of the death of Mrs. Jas. W. Mooro, of Hampton, thc motlier of Mrs. 10. A. Hines. Mrs. Moore was to have spent the summer with her daughter, and her death cornes as a great shock. The sympathies of the community are felt for the loved ones in their sorrow. Mrs. 10. C. Vernor, who has been desperately ill for two weeks, ls thought to be some better. Dr. J. S. Strlbllng is visiting his brother, W. D. Strlbllng, at Eaton ton, Ca. The latter ls reported se riously sick. Mrs. J. I.. McWhorter and chil dren returned to Augusta Monday af ternoon. The program was carried out as publish ed with an additional speech on "Christian Education" by Rev. F. G. Lavender, and a layman's missionary meeting i" Hie afternoon on Sunday. These nie ings are helpful to the members of the several churches, and each church should send dele gates. The next meeting of the union in tho lower division will be held with Bethel Baptist church, at Oak way, on Saturday and Sunday, Hie 28th and 29th of September, 1912, and we urge a full attendance from all the churches, and if any member has a query to he discussed, please send it to Bro. There was a large attendance, about three hundred be ing present. At ll o'clock Interest ing talks were made by Rev. W. T. Duncan and Rev. L. M. Lyda. Din ner was served In tho shady grove from well-filled baskets, and was en joyed by all In old-fashioned picnic style. J, C. Hentley, superintendent and George Thompson, teacher ol Class No. 1, planned tho exercises of Hie day and did much to contribute to the pleasure and success of thc occasion. The children from both mill vil lages attended en masse and enjoyed the day very much. The holiday was well spent, tho liest of order pre vailed, and a high standard of be havior was ilxed for similar exer cises in the future. And such occa sions should be more frequent. The enrollment in the Millvilb school is about slx'y, and lt ls hoped In the near futuro to Increase lt to at least one hundred. Thero are several children in both villages who do not attend, but should do so. El forts are being made to bring all these children into tho school, and tho parents should lend a helping hand.
