Only a Few Cases Disposed Of Criminal Session Ended Friday. The session of Criminal Court end ed last Friday morning shortly after the bringing tn of a verdict by tho jury in the Sam Butt case. The jury was out all Thursday night. and earl) Friday morning gave notice that they desired instructions from thc Court on the point as lo bow far a mau must retreat, before be ls jus tified in taking Ibo life of another in self-defense. Shortly after hearing Judge Wilson's remarks, which were simply to the effect that a man must use every effort to avoid difficulty thal a man of ordinary judgment and prudence would use. ihe jury re lumed a verdict of guilty of man slaughter, .lu,lue Wilson sentenced the prisoner lo five years Imprison ment, bul later not i Hod him thal ho had reduced tho sentence to three years.
