The largest measured 19 inches in circum ference and 9 inches in length, the other two a fraction less. SAL.E-DAY--As a Sale-day, Monday was an exceedingly small affair, a few white men were in town, but the color ed people were scarce. Some little real estate was sold by the Sheriff, 70 ace bringing $1,410; 126 1.2 acres, $430: 110ares, $1.210; and 80 acres, $~370; besides a few horses and old buggies by Major K. The latter went off cheap. Messrs. Burr J. Ramage & Son will accept our thanks for a bottle of the Liquid White Potash or Lye. We tender our sympathies to the bereaved parents. We learn, also, that the family of Mr. Luther Long. of this County. has been bereft of two children-all thuy had by that scourge diptheria. One of the little ones died on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday of last week. We feel deeply for the family. AcCIDENTAI.SO<rIXc,.-Oneofthose unfortunate accidents which occur from the careless handling of fire-arms, hap pened near Pomaria on Saturday last. A son of Mr. Ben Counts, aged 15 years, together with a negro man. started on a rabbit hunt. The two had scarcely got away from the honse when the g91 held by the lad exploded, the comentS striking the negro in the head, the top of which was blown entirely off. Death was immediate. An inquest held on Sunday rendered a verdict in accord I anee with the facts-accidental shoot ing. R., on Thrsday last for a comfortable break fast, in which we were not disappointed, after a ver pleasant visit to Columbia -hich city was left without the abo)ve mentioned comforting meal--and with the best feelings not only for self, btt the rest of mankind, without thought of personal violence or accident, just as we were about to step from the plaitform to the ears we were Ku Kluxed by 31r.
