Notwithstanding his to great suffirings he ,ore them all with !,patient fortitude and resignation, rather n than add to the ainount of pain which his family already ex perie-.c.d by any K1 outward demonstration of coiplaint. Mr. Boyle was a native of Tennessee, [and came to Newberry in 18GG, pre ne vious to which he lived for some time in Laurens and Prosperity. At the Ls time of his death lie had entered his forty-eighth year. It is said by his inti mate friends that he had a presentinent ne as to when he should die, although he studiously avoided speaking of this to us his wife and children, and that a few hours before his death he inquired what o'clock it was, and t.n being told, that - e counted the hours up to twelve, ind pausing said no-eleven. This in con nd nection with other remarks, Uonvinced s his friends that he had such a feeling. eh Mr. Boyle was a good citizen, respected he and honored by all, and as a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Sons of Temperance, ie re ill, ceived marked and kindly attention dti ne ring his protracted illness, and by wvhom1 sv he was-huried with the honors which is his exemplary life merited at their 1v hands. Peace to his ashes. To his a sorrowing and bereaved family we of fer our sincerest sympathies, and pray to that God will take the widow and fa therless children into especial nearness to Himself. - Cigars, Chewing and Smoking Tobacco. ell Candy, Canned Goods, Cheese and Maccaro kd ni, can be found at WM. C. CHASE'S. h THE SIGis.-Grundy says that ever n since Adam was a boy it has been sang that "a better time is coming," and all ri we had to do was to wait a little longer. kv His opinion is that it's a dreadful long ds time off still. So long in fact that lie ife will never live to see it. He has wait so ed long already, and waited in every eI variety of ways-first on a girl, hoping and fondly expecting to get her consent to take him in. out of the cold. but the ls time for her to give in and mete out to rd him the full measure of happiness nev lid er camie. He has gone to appointel I places and waited, but the other fellows by never put in any appearance. , One of the worst waits is to wait for a fellow a who faithfully promised to settle a bill, ts. or pay that borrowed money. IIe has -u. experienced that until lie e:nnot rest. tf. But this is not all lie wishes to con . municate to his fellow sufferers-his he idea was to say something about the L a "grood time coming"-the author of which had no conception either of truth of or moral responsibility. A greater e fraud never was perpetrated. Instead For of a goed time coming, it's all the time is growitig much worse, politically, infer inally and pecuniarily. It's no use, he gives it up. Smitheis promised to pay ahim fifty cents last Saturday, loaned ihim to buy a circus ticket months ago, mbut he failed on the plea of no funds, :and yet he sa5w him buy gubers that Sverj day. Not only that, Grundy says She tried to get credit in two or three lie places lately, but ignominiously failed, Sfor the reason that the parties had let joui; all their goods last year on liens, m and had nothing now to lean on but >notes and accounts. Talk about a good ry time coming, when a fellow cnn't run his face-the cash system aint worth a cent. When did I ever have any cash? .Why, the merchants will starve if they Swait for me, Grundy, to pay cash for 'their goods, a thing I never did in my be life. Pshaw! the good time is far off. SHow much longer Grindy would le have spoken we know not, fortunately a visitor came in and broke the thread aof his discourse. in- Call at John F.
