INDIANA.-Oglesby, the Governor of this State, is on the rampage. He is a blood and ouns Radical, and in the course of a big speech:at Plymouth the other day attempted to blarney the Irish by abusing the President and Secretary Seward for enforcing the neutrality laws during the recent Fenian raid in Canada. An Irishman in the crowd asked him why ConDress did not repeal the neu trality laws during that raid, instead of spending their time passing bills over the President's veto. This got his Excellency where his hair was short. He raved and ranted and called his interlocutor a traitor. "You lie," says Pat. "You was sent here by the Copper heads," says 0., "to create a row." "Divil a bit," says Pat, "answer me question." "You're a traitor, I say," bawls the Governor. The Rads, you see, are .very heavy on this word. Its such a knock down argument. "That's another lie," roared the son of Brian Borough, with all his Irish up. "I can whip you! I can mash your old head any dav," says this nice old Governor, and herewith makes a dart at Pat who, no ways daunted, prepares to meet his "loyal" foe. But just here the police interfered and the mob was cheat ed out of all the fun. Singular thing, this Northern speechifying. A GEoRGIA WIDow.-An anecdote is related by a cert:in' Squire, which pro ceeds as follows: "Oh !" said the' Squire, "I wish I was married and well out of it. I dread it powerful. I'd like to marry a widow. I allers liked widows, once I know'a one down in Georgia, that suited my ideas adzactly. About a week after her husband died, she started down to the graveyard, whar they planted him, and she read the prescription on to the monument. When she got there she stood looking at the stones which was put at each end of the grave, with an epitaph on 'em that the minister had writ for her. Then she burst out, "Oh! h-o-o!" says sne, 'Jones was the best of men. I remember how the last time he come home, about a week ago, he bro't down from town some sugar and a little tea, and some store goods for me, ard lots of little necessaries, a little painted boss for Jeems, which that blessed little child got his mouth all yaller with suck ing of it; and then he kissed the children all round, and took down that good old fiddle of his'n, and played up that good old tune : "Rake her down, Sal, Oh rang-dang diddle. Oh! rang-dang diddle, dang, dang, da." SERVED HER R1GII.-An amusing in cident is told of a woman in England, whose husband, a rich man, died sudden ly, without leaving any will. The widoW, desirous to get all the property conceal ed her husband's death, and persuaded a pioor shoemaker to take his place while a will could be made. Accordingly he was closely muffled in bed, as if very sick, and a lawyer was called to write a will. The shoemaker in a feebled voice, bequeath ed half of all the property to the widow. "What shall be done with the remain der ?" asked the lawyer. "The re mnainder," replied he, "I give and be queath to the poor little .shoemaker across the street, who has always been a good neighbor and a deserving man ; thus securing a rich bequest for him self. The widow was thunderstruck at the man's audacious cunning, but did not dare expose the fraud, and so 'two rogues shared the estate. A well-dressed fellow, the other day, walking into a room where they were. talking polities, and stretching himself to his full bight, exclaimed in a ]oud voice: "Where is a radical ? Show me a rad ical, and I'll show you a liar !" In an instant one of them exclaimed, "I am a radical sir!" "You are ?" "Y'es, sir, I am." "Well, just you step around the cor ner with me, and I'll show yon a fel low who said a radical could not be found in the ward. Ain't he a liar ?" The Portland Press tell the following rather extravagant story to illustrate the wholesale theiving practiced there on the night of the great tire: "One who had been slumbering peacefully in his grave in the Eastern Cemetery awoke, and walking forth, inquired if 'the day of judgment had come ?' On being told that it was only Portland burning, he remarked that he would go back to his repose. On reaching his grave he found that somebody had stolen his coffin!" DEATH OF FRANcIS, THE BARBER. There were conveyed to his final.resting place yesterday, the mortal remains of a venerable colored man, well known in this community. There are but a few now remaining of this class of persons, the mention of whose demise in this form will be a worthy record. John L. Fran cbs, one of our oldest barbers, whose fu neral services took place at St. Luke's Church yesterday, expired in this city on Saturday last, at the ripe old age of sixty-nine years. For a period of forty one years he conducted his profession at his old stand on King-street, and gained for himself, by correct deportment and mndustry, the approval and support of many of our respectable citizens. Short ly after closing his earthly career, he be qeathed to deser'ving relatives and Fiks Metallic Burial Cases1, THE subscriber has just received a supply of these Cases, from the above celebrated matiufacturer, which are of the latest and -nost improved patterns, and of elegaut Rose wao.d fnish, and which he offers at low rates to the public.
