We have been having plenty of rain for the past week and the crops are looking very good. There was a large crowd at Pleasant Hill the first Sunday in June to hear Rev. J. C. Holley, but for some cause he didn't come. We trust he will be there the first Sunday in July. Mi9S Mattie Taylor has been very ill for the past week, but we are glad to know she is now improving. Mr. Edgar Stockman visited the home of Mr. J. Z. Taylor Sunday. Miss Maude Taylor spent a short while at Rev. J. D. Taylor's Sunday. Mr. Eugene Stockman, of New Brookland, spent a few hours at Mr. J. Furtick, of Swansea, route I, living near Jefcoat's bridge, recently caught an alligator measuring '.1 feet *nd o inches in the i^orth Edisto river by the means of a hook baited with a moccasin. It is needless to say that the gaitor was not caught with a hook known as the perch or cat fish size, but it required a special size hook made at a blacksmith shop. Polite and Pre Sunday School Picnic. The annual joint Sunday school picnic of the several denominations of our town * as held last Saturday at t Mr. Eli Corley's spring. There was c a large number of peopiepresont, rep- c resenting every denomination, all of ? whom mingled in brotherly affection s and enjoyed the elegantpicnic dinner. 6 The good people brought well filled 3 baskets and refreshments weve freely I served. Mr. Sease says his peach crop is very short this year as he will only have 25 bushels in all and last year at each bad carried 25 bushels at a time. Dr. F. M.
