C. 10?46 Gasoline Pulls the Plow; Horses Quit Wheat Fields Topeka, Kan.?Big steam an 1 gasoline traction engines are superseding horses and mules in plowing the great wheat fields of Kansas. One of the Kansas State officials went from Syraouse on the Santa Fe to Topeka recently. He traveled all day and on that trip counted sixty-one traction engines at work plowing. The traction engines as plow power came to Kansas less than three years ago and this year they are more extensively used than ever before. One wholesale distributing house in Topeke has sold twenty tractors. All were shipped to agents in the central and western parts of the state on orders from farmers. Within the last week the country newspapers of central Kansas reported the sale nineteen tractors for plowing and reportei twenty-seven farmers who would start their tractors at once. Lightning Kills Two; Injures Others. Two men were killed and several injured by lightning, which struck the house in which they were visiting, at Lovett, Ga., during an electric storm one day last week.
