Lamar?Arthur Spears, a young rbite man of the Lydia community ras found dead in the woods near the ublic road last Monday morning. It appears from the testimony of ae coroner's jur}- that Arthur Spears nd George Loyd were about six miles * j rom their homes on oicycies ana in ompany with Walter Freeman and thers were in the road Sunday afteroon drinking. Spears, becoming stupefied, was arried or dragged into the woods and jft lying with his bicycle. Loyd and teeman then took Spears' watch and ?oney for safe keeping and went to ae home of Freeman, 300 yards disance, where Loyd and Freeman went d bed and slept until late Monday lorning. It is supposed that Spears ecame chilled by the exposure and ied in the early part of the night as le body was stiff and cold when it 'as found. There were suspicions of poisoning om the whiskey drunk and Drs. Parell and Stith performed an autopsy nd the stomach of Spears was sent way for examination. The jury witheld a verdict until a report could be ad on the stomach. Indignation is high in this and the ydia communities agains Loyd and reeman for their negligence. Afraid cf ths Baniss.
