Pine Ridge School Closes. To the Editor of The Dispatch: The gentle sound of the Pine Ridge school bell is hushed, the doors are now closed for the present session. The closing exercises which were held 011 Saturday, March 19th, was a success. The day being an ideal one, the crowd begau to gather at an early hour, and when the exercises began the crowd was the largest that ever assembled at Pine Ridge. The manner in which the students performed their part wa9 a graceiui one. The most interesting part of the program was a debate, subject: Resolved, "That Heredity is a greater factor in tne formation of character than environment." The subjeot was ably discussed by both sides. The affirmative was composed of Roy L. Ballentine, Ollie L. Shealy and Ceber C. Shealy; the negative was Johnnie W. Swygert, Ollie K. Huffstettler and . Ernest O. Wes3inger. The committee of judges were Rev. E. J. Sox, Hon. E. U. Shealy and Hon. J. L. Amick. After the school exercises were over Hon. J. L. Amick and Hon. E. U. Shealy adresscd the audience, both 9poke on the subject of education. The ladies of the community served an excellent dinner on the grounds. Music was furnished by the Pine Ridge string band. Ex-student. Family Saved By Cat. Griffin, Ga.,?A small black cat proved to be a omen of good luck when it saved Mrs. \V. J. Hogan and her two children from a horrible death in their burning home here. Mrs. Hogan and the children were asleep, unaware that their nome was a mass of flames when the cat sprang upon the bed and by repeatedly scratching its mistress on the face, succeeded in awakening her just in time to seize the children in her arms and escape from the house before the r.of fell in. ? -O When Her Bmk Aehes A Woman Finds All Her Energy and Ambition Slipping Away. v Lexington women know how the aches and pains that come when the kidneys fail make life a burden.
