Farmers throughout the State are beginning to realize the value of feeding jottonseed meal to cattle. It has been ecently pointed out that the same imount of cottonseed meal fed to cat;le and the manure used as fertilizer vill produce as much cotton as if put lirectly into the ground. It has also jeen claimed by experiment stations, md actual practice appears to confirm he statement, that by feeding cottoneed meal to cattle either for fattening >r for the production of milk, full value s returned for the meal and roughness ed and that the manure comes as dear profit to the farmer, even if he loes not obtain a profit from the cattle hemselves. South Carolina is making headway n the cattle raising industry. The ..ive Stock association has been workncr hard for some vears to imorove he class of cattle in the State and jood results have been obtained. It s stated that with good judgment in he purchase of cattle the manure lecessary for the farm ban be produced at very little cost to the farmer. Dhe preparing of cattle for the market s rendered cheaper, also, by the use >f cottonseed meal. 'ontral&nd Liquor Stolen Pre m . Sheriff. The sheriff's office at Edgefield was >roken into on Thursday night and our gallons of contraband liquor, recently seized by that officer, stolen, dr. The battle lasted three hours. The lynx was 9ix feet in length. For several months the lynx has been a terror to the community. They have killed stock and attacked people. Thei deu was in a wild, rocky re vine and none dared attempt to rout them. Smith organized a posse to help him fight the animals, but he had barely got inside the den when the posse, frightened at the growls of the animals tied in terror. The battle was fought in darkness and the den was so small that Smith was unable to stand erect. Orangeburg Taking Steps Fcr Enforcing Law.
