FOR KIDNEY, LIVER AND STOMACH TROUBLE it is the best medicine ever cold over a druggist's counter. H. C. T. U. NOTES. We ca wt place too hif.h a value on the formative and educational phases of the temperance movement. Let ns work and pray that there may come to the church and to the hearts of our people a Church-like desire to eradicate this accused evil form our land. The only failure that can come to the Christian reformer is the failure to adhere to that which is right. Peace, prohibition?on these four "hang all the law and the prophets" of the temperance reform. The liquor tribe will rage awhile longer; but God is on His throne! He has uettered His voice; the liquor traffic is doomed to destruction. The Woman's Christian Temperance Union is not only antisaloon. but anti-brewery, anti-distillery. anti any form of alcoholic liquor making, or liquor selling, for beverage purposes. Shakespeare wrote, "Oh! Thou invisible spirit of wine, if thou hast no name to be known by, let us call thee devil." As the eleventh eommandment j given us by our Lord and Savior is i applied more fully to the customs of i society and the laws of our land, this evil spirit in like proportion will be cast out from tbe heart and the home, the community and the nation. <? Suce ssor to Capers. Washington, D. C It is announc-! ed that the resignation of Capt. John G. Capers, as internal revenue commissioner, to take effect July 1st, has been in for some time and that Roy Cabell, now postmater at Richmond, will succeed him. Capt. Capers is still critically ill. The Fain Made Her Faint. "For almost four years I had a sore 011 my leg:," says Mrs. Olive Hard of Madison, N. H., "and this spring a doctor healed it up. I felt fine for about a month but had to be on my feet a good deal and above my knee came a swelling as big as my fist. It hung down and was as red as if it had been blistered and 60 sore that I could hardly get around. The cords of my leg seemed to be stiff and the pain was so bad at times that it made me faint. One of the neighbors told me abont Sloan's Liniment so I got a bottle and put some right on. Iiext morning I conld walk ever so much better ana I kept right on using the Liniment night and morning. It took down all the swelling, and the redness and soreness have gone too. I shall never be without Sloan's Linimet in the house again and will recommend it to all suffering friends." ^ If We Enew If we knew the cares and crosses Crowded' round our neighbor's way, If we knew the little losses Sorely grievous day by day, Would we then so often chide him For the sake of thrift and gain? Leaving on his heart a shadow, Laaving on our hearts a stain? If we knew that clouds above us Held our gentle blessings there, Would we turn away all trembling, In our blind and weak despair? Would we shrink from little shadows, Lying on the dewy grass, i While 'tis only birds of Eden, Just? in mercy flying past? If we knew the silent story Quivering through the heart of pain, Would our womanhood dare doom them Back to haunts of vice and tbanie? Life has many a tangled crossing, Joy has many a break of woe, And the cheeks tear-washed are whitest, This the blessed angels know. Let us reach within our bosoms For the key to other live., And with love to erring nature, Cherish good that still survives; So that when our disrobed spirits Soar to realms of light again, We maj7, say, dear Father, judge us As we judge our fellow men.
