Congressman Lever Wins Victory in Securing Larger Appropriation. Congressman Lever, in the commit:ee on agriculture, has won a considerible victory in increasing the appropriation for cattle tick eradication in i-he South from the ?150,000 carried in asb year's bill to ?250,000 for the coning fiscal year. J.l Wets w<jii uvci iuc uiiaiiiiiiuus uppusition of the sub-committee which nakes up the bill, with the exception )f Mr. Lever, who is a member of th3 jub-committe. It is known, of course, that several rears ago the Federal Government jstab ished a quarantine against Southern cattle, and it is estimated by statisticians that on account of this quarantine against tick-infested cattle he South suffered an annual loss of 'rom $80,000,000 to $100,000,000. It is expected that the South Carolina legislature will soon make a liberal ippropriation for co-operation with ;he Federal Government in this work. Mr. Lever went before the Senate eOmmittee on finance last Saturday to irge such an appropriation and he is lopeful that it will pass. It is Mr. Lever's belief that if the State will appropriate $5,000, the Federal Governnent will expend in the State during ihe coming fiscal year at least $15,000, md that the quarantine line in South Carolina will be carried down into }he territory of Columbia. Already :our of the upper counties of the State lave been put in probationary quarantine and these will be released in a short time from any quarantine restrictions. At the hearing on this natter Representative Legare spoke pn the importance of increasing the ippropriation in the interest of the people of the South. Notice to Our Customers We are pleased to announce that Foley's Honey and Tar for coughs, colds md lung troubles is not affected by the Natural Pure Food and Drug law as it contains no opiates or other harmful Irugs, and we recommend it as a safe emedy for children and adults. Her remains were buried at Shady Grove church last Friday, the service conducted by Rev. Mr. Holly. Miss Lou Bouknight, daughter of Mr. Robert A. Rouknight, was buried Sunday at the same church. H.
