The first murder case came up Wednesday afternoon when Paul Bowe, colored v charged with the murder of David Jefooafc a year ago. He . plead Accident and the plea carried with^the jury, in a short triaL Fred Bummer, colored, charged wi^raorder, also on ball, come next established it to the satisfaction of jury and secured an acquittal. Robert Harks, of this town, for the murder of Eugene Carr, a small negro boy, whkh happened in the rear of the dispensary over a year ago. Mares proved that the pistol was discharged . accidentally and was acquitted. He admowfcdged to carrying pistol and was fined $75. He was represented by^essrs. Graham & Storkie. John Ballard and wife, Lizzie, col-. y ored, were up far assault and battery L upon Annie May, and an "old fashion1 ea" fight ensued, so that the jurv let Wf- them off, presumably on a ''dog fall." Dpi . The last case tried was that of Lee Fallaw, chained with assault and battery with intent, to kill upon Geo. W. Mabus, at Batesburg, last spring. Later Mabus was killed from ambush and Lee Fallaw and others were tried at Aiken C. H. for the murder, but saonred an acquittal. Mr. AsMll assisted the solicitor and Barrett Jones* Esq.., represented the defendant, Many witnesses were sworn and the trial ended Saturday night with a \ verdict of guilty. Judge Johnstone In the common ideas court which opened Monday/there ^as been one1 trial, that of Chsa. U. Rucker vs. Western Union Telegraph company, for damages under the "mental anguish" law for the failure to deliver a telegram in Savannah, sent from Swansea* Messrs. Graham mid Martin brought the case and Mr. W. S. Nelson and Eftrd & Dreher appeared for the company. The case was nonj suited at the close of the plaintiff's testimony, and this consumed Monday. Mk Yesterday Messrs. Graham and Martin were both sick, and being in v the cases set for trial, the court took \ recess until Thursday morning and Johsstoneand the jurors went The cases for trial are three against the county, for damages.
