The Hayes bridge over big Hollow creek is in a deplorable condition, it is said, and needs the immediate attention of the county commissioners. Mr. Olin E. Nunnamaker, of the Spring Hill section, was carried to Columbia last week by Dr. R. E. Mathias, and was operated on for appendicitis at the Columbia hospital. Perry Caughman, of the firm of Caughman Brothers, dealers in stock, buggies, wagons, is spending a week at his old home, near Lexington. Perry is a clever young gentleman and fine business man. The Delmar R. F. D. route has made some changes recently, which makes it convenient for a number of citizens. Mr. Jeremiah Smith,: of Conway, was here op business last Wednesday. He was accompanied by his stepdaughter, Mrs. J. W. Ogilvie, who returned Monday after spending a few days pleasantly with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Job A. Wessinger, of Chapin, are visiting at the home of the, latter'8 father, Capt. S. M. Roof. Mr. Wessinger is one of the most progressive business men in the county and an all round good citizen. Solicitor Timmerman is resting up this week and getting ready for the Richland court which opens in Columbia Monday. He will have three weeks of criminal court there, and the next week after, he goes to Camden for two weeks. Five weeks at a time 9eems to be to6 much of a good thing. Mrs. I. V. Wessinger and children, Messrs. Chalmers E., Hoy and Horry, and Miss Eunice, returned on Monday afternoon from the Jamestown exposition where they spent a week very pleasantly viewing the various sights of the "Big Show." They find that there is no better place to secure bargains in all lines of merchandise than old Lexington. Mrs. Arthur P. Harman, who has been in the Hills Infirmary, Montgomery, Ala., undergoing treatment for the past several weeks, is so much imSroved that she will soon return to >ecater, Ala., where the professor is superintendent of the city schools. It is a fine thing for the town of Lexington that Hon. Geo. Bell Timmerman has placed about 20 building lots on the market. They are close to both the proposed trolley car lines and the people who buy them will in all probability double or tribble their money in a short time.
