The Lexington Dispatch. Wednesday, inne 12.1907. Prom Fairbanks. To the Editor of The Dispatch: The farmers in this section are kept busy battling with Gen. Green. No fruit in this section, but the blackberry crop is a bumper. The gnain is being cut; Wheat is poor; oats very good. Strong efforts are being made to get * f.Kiwi "R i? Sox is truly a strong and faithful servant of God. The library, which was recently purchased by the Sunday school, is ^ now intbechurcfc. It will be a great help to the school. The old Pine Ridge brass band has bedh re-organized, and tl^ey make good music for beginners. While these lines are being written I receive the sad news of the death of one of the leading men of Lexington county, Hon. J. Mike Epting. In his death Lexington county has lost a noble man. The person who anonymously assails personal character of one is rightly ranked among thieves, cowards and assassins. And Jhe paper that publishes such anonymous personal attacks is equally The paper and the writer! alike belong to the M&ffia class who secretly use the dagger and are devoid of all honor and integrity. They are held in absolute contempt by all honorable and brave persons. And only those of like mindedness enjoy such cowardly articles. Along with this cowardly spirit, of course, goes falsehood and slander. If one has a spark of true manhood about him he would neither thus anonymously assail t^e character of a fellow man, nor would he allow it to be done in his paper. But as there are cowardly assassins, so wfe find the same kind of men. For the first time in a number of years the State Teachers' Association will meet as a separate and independent organization, and for this reason those who are interested in its welfare are looking forward to the next meeting with the confident belief that it will be a great success. The place of meeting is a very fortunate one, and the attractions of Ghick Springs together with the strong program announced below, ought to araw a large and representative body of teachers. Much careful thought has been given to the topics and speakers on the program, and progressive teachers who wish to keep abreast of the times in the educational affairs of the State and nation can scarcelv afford to be absent from this meeting. All teachers and persons interested in the cause of education may become members of the Association by paying the annual dues, which are $1.00 for men and 50 cents for women. Application may be made to E. S. Dreher, Columbia, S. C., President of the Association, or L. W. Dick, Abbeville, S. C., Secretary. The meeting will be held fron^the 22nd to 24th of June. Members of the Association will be granted a special rate of $1.50 a day at' the hotel, under the management of theCbick Sbrtegs' authorities, a membership cam belngnecessary to secure this reduction. This rate will also apply to members who wish to go to the Association a few days before the meeting or who wish to remain a short time after the close of the session. v ? ? ? Tetter Cured. The judge had his patience sorely tried by lawyers who wished to talk and by men who tried to . evade jury service. So when the puzzled little German, who had been accepted by both sides, jumped up the judge was exasperated. , "Shude!" cried the German. "What is it?" demanded the judge. "I think I like to go home to my wife." said the German. "You can't," retorted the judge. "Sit down." "But, shudge," persisted the German. "I don't think I make a good ahurer." "You're the best in the box," said the judge. "Sit down." "But, shudge," persisted the little German, "I don't speak good English.'' "You don't have to speak any at all," said the judge. "Sit down." The little German pointed to the lawyers to make his last desperate pies. "Shudge," he said, "I can't make noddings of what these fellows say." It was the judge's chance to get even for many annoyances. ' 4'Neither can anyone else," he said. "Sit down." With a sigh the little German sat down. A Lesson in Health. Healthy kidneys filter the impurities from the blood, and unless they do this gtod health is impossible. Foley's Kidney Cure makes sound kidneys and will positively cure all forms of kidney and bladder disease. It strengthens the whole system. Kaufmann Drug Co. His Last Betort. The story is told of a well known Chicago criminal lawyer whose valuable services were retained by the wealthy relatives of a man accused of murder in a southwestern state. The case was a bad one, for the evidence was overwhelmingly against the accused. Despite the fact the lawyer contrived by the skillful exercise of every trick and maneuver known to the profession to secure the disagreement of juries, delays, appeals, etc., till at last the case was brought before the supreme court of the United States. One day in an interview between the prisoner and his counsel the former asked, "In case the supreme court should decide against me, what will be my next move?" "To heaven, I hope," was the candid response of the lawyer. Tonight. If you would enjoy tomorrow take Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets tonight. Pinkham'e Vegetable Compound more successfully than by any other medicine, because it gives tone and strength to the entire feminine organism and renders it perfectly normal. To the Editor of The Dispatch: Will you allow me space in your valuable paper to express my opinion on the new counties? It seems as if they are going to be formed whether or no. But the people have not yet thought of high taxes, building court houses, jails, etc. Taxes are high enough now. I, for one, would rather go twenty or twenty-five miles to court, or on any other business, than to have a, new county; but we all know that some of the people who want the new county are office-seek.< era, and that is the only way to get them. It is known that all men can't hold office. I guess I had better hush before somebody gets hit. I am sorry to report the illness of Bowman Bawl's child, 'and wish for it a speedy recovery. .
