Tbere is plenty of roouj for other ferick buildings to go up in Lexington. Tbe air is delightfully fragrant just sow with tbe peifame of flowers and fruit blossoms. Tbe neceseitv of a welJ trained fire department is felt by the owners of realty in L^xiDgton. Tan and chocolate shoes are all the rage with the Summer Girl and tbe Shirt Waist Mao. Aak yourself this question, friend, "What are vnu doiog toward the im prove m en fc of Lexington?" Every man may have a price, but it differs greatly froin what his neighbors thick be is worth. President Booaevelt, it peemp, is still holding the "Door of Hope': ajar for the deeoeDdants of Ham. The worst th&fc the BrooklsDd people can do themselves is to go into ifae municipality of Colombia. Some mep. according to a woman writer, can be cot quered with tears, while it is necessary to use a hat pin en others Mr. 8 A Monte, of Hilton, was in town one day last week trading and he never forgot the printers, and we . thank him. Oae good sign of the times is that the j)erple of L*xiDgton ere improving their stock by the introduction of blooded strains. x It is probable that the State will increase the capacity of its bottling plant and 'tfass" X will be wholesaled instead of retailed. Mr. H L O -wald, the genial manager of the Lexington Department Btore, and his entire family have been down with the grip. It is never too late to do good, but a8acred writer informs us tb&t now ie the accepted time to?build a a eottou seed oil mill in Lexington. "io St Pa no 1 a,po ir? knroo fnfn. Sometime ago we beard considerable talk about another cotton mill for Lexington, but it now appears that the project has gone into winter quarters. The Cross Country Club of Colum bia, composed of ladies and gentlemen, paid Lexington a pop call last Thursday evening and returned to that city by the light cf the moon. The colored population of Lexington and vicinity had a glory hailelujah time the closing days of last week. The occasion being a revival meeting in Mount Carmai M. E. church. Hub Evans, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Dispensary, will enter a suit for criminal libel against the Barnwell Sentinel for saying in substance that a man whose yearly wages is only $400 cannofc afford to have a season box in a theatre, send his daughter to college and drive a fine pair of horses through the streets of Bock Hill Isn't it a little out of the order of the eternal fitness of things for bankers, lawyers, merchants and Wall gjtreet gamblers to advise farm ers what they most and most not plant and bow much cotton and corn? It really seems to us that if the farmer should advise the banker to reduce the amount of money his judgment tells bim to Iosd; the lawyer to curtail bis practice on eccount of the congested condition of the dockets of the courts and the Wall Street gambler to cease his dealing in futures as very little if any spot cotton is in sight, these people would consider the farmer's advice unwarranted impertinanee, yet they advise the farmer how to manage his business with impunity. It is a mighty poor rule that won't work both ways. Cures Blood Poison, Cancers, Ulcers. S Sea Island Cotton Farmers. Charleston. March 22 ?Tbe sea island cotton farmers perfected their organization today, at a largely attended meeting at the Commercial club, for the purpose of limiting the sale of seed and thus confining the growing of the long staple cotton due to tbe competition which results to the South Carolina industry from the extended cultivation Tbe report of tbe special committee was adopted as a whole, providing for the organization of the Sea I*laDd Cotton Seed association, which i9 declared in its charter to be an eleemosynary organization, cn account of the proposed gratuitous distribution of seed, only however, to the planters of the immediate section about Charleston. A constitution and bylaws were adopted and those members who had not already signed tbe agreement joined the association at tbe meeting today, making a membership of more than 60, which is certain to have an effect in controlling the seed market Officers were elected and committees | appointed and tbe association starts its existence under favorable auspices.
