They are adapted to old and young. Masonic. Last night ^marked a red letter meeting of Lexington L)dge, No. 152, A. F. M., in point of attendance and the work accomplished. The work was in the Master Mason degree and the occasion was the elevation of a candidate from Fellow Craftsman to a Master Mason. District Deputy Grand Mister Giles, of Graniteville, being present rendered valuable as sistance in the initiation ceremonies which made them impressive and sublime. Orlando Sheppard, Past Grand Master, was present and his lecture to the candidate was impree sive, full of wisdom and very instructive. There were quite a large number of visiting brethren present .whose presence were greatly eppreciated by the lodge. Judge Buchanan made a few timely remarks under the head of the "good of the order," which were very encouraging and interesting. A G-ospel Truth. The angel of death has again vieited the home of one of our oldest citizens and carried away to his eternal home Mr. Jesse Swygert, who died at bis home just below Wyse's ferry last Sunday and was buried in the cemetery at Blue church Monday. The immediate cause of his death was grippe and pneumonia. He was a good man and a prominent citizen and will be missed in the community in which he resided. ? Salvation Oil the Best Liniment. The Court of Common Pleas opened promptly at ten o'clock Monday morning and business moved off promptly, upon the trial of a damage suit of Killian Harman vs. The Western Union Telegraph Company, brought by Mr. J. A. Muller. Messrs. Efird & Dreher appeared for the Company. Upon the close of plaintiffs testimony a non suit was allowed. During Monday afternoon and yesterday, nothing was transacted. This morning the trial is in progress in the case of D. T. Hare vs. T. H. Caughmac, Sheriff. Messrs Graham and Crawford for the plaintiff and Messrs. Efird & Dreher and Mailer k Sturkie for the defendant. The other cases for trial this week are Senterfeit vs. Shealy; Fort vs. Southern Railway Company; Marshal Gunter vs. Seivern and Knoxville Railroad Company and Younginer and Lyles vs. Seivern and Knoxville Railroad Company. While our paper was on the press last week and the edition nearly run off we learned that the wife of Mr. K. B. Barr, died at his residence in Lower Fork, on the Friday before. This was his second wife, the first being Miss Kate Younginer, who survived her marriage oGly a little over a year and the last, her 6ister.
