As the sun rose we were near- ^ ng Memphis, TenD., and all eyes ooked just a little drowsy. After a hort stop we were moving on again in ipen view to the grand mystic old Mississippi river. A feeling of sadness came over the a vriter as we were passing over the C )ld stream. Here beneath ite gentle 0 Dosom sleeps De Sota, the first white Y Q man that came through the wilderness to the "Father of Waters." 8 And up and down this river the Red Man used to ply his canoe, dreaming di his dusky mm, true and brave. ; The train was just three minutes ^ crossing the loDg iron bridge which a spans the river. Then for two hours we were moving on through * swamp3 that must extend at least seventy-five miles from the river. We are now in Atkansas and the wide and broad prairie lands open up before us, on which are feeding 1 numerous herds of cattle and flocks ' of sheep. Little Rick was reached ' in the evening of the 10th and after i a short stop of 43 minutes we made i our last dive for "Hot Springs."
