While in Chicago, Mr. Charles L. Kahler, a prominent shoe merchant of Des Moines, Iowa, had quite a serious time of it. Death has again invaded the home of our friend, Mr. W. L. Taylor of Columbia, and robbed it of one of its brightest jewels. Only a few months ago, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were called upon to mourn the death of an infant child, and on last Friday night their hearts were made to bleed at the death of Johnnie Swearengen, their five-year-old son. Our deepest sympathises goes out to them in their sad affliction. The Delineator for October is called the Autumn number, and contains an unusually large number of articles on interesting subjects.
