On last Saturday, especially, and several other days during the Week, the Woman's Missionary Societies of the association held a number of meetings at the churches and homes of the various sections. The one which the writer attended was a parlor meeting of the Rehoboth so ciety at the pretty and hospitable country hon e of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Wash. Having been invited to par take of the mid-day meai, as well as attend the meeting of the society, we reached our friends home in ample time, ?and ?were delighted at the kind reception of our host and hostess, and to see their four very pretty and interesting children, Ruth, William, Alline and Gladys, ail under seven. After a delightful dinner, there was but a short period of time be fore the buggies began to arrive, bearing within large numbers of in terested friends to attend the mis sion Society. Among the first to ar rive were Rev. and Mrs. E. T. Snuggs and Mrs. M. T. Littlejohn, the first two, having become well kuown in our county as missionaries of Canton, China, and being asso ciated in that city with our mission aries Mr. and Mrs. Lake. These friends have visited a number of places in our county and we believe have helped the work materially by the information they have brought, and the real spirit of missions which they manifest. These house to house gatherings among the women of our country churches are very produc tive of good, and it has a splendid social as well as religious feature. On this occasion a large number of the Rehoboth society were present, as well as a number of centlemen, and the meeting was led by Miss Mabelle Strom, who has succeeded Miss Carrie Burkhalter so long the noble and efficient leader of the Rehoboth society. Mr. and Mrs. Snuggs made very effective talks, and at the close of the meeting delight ful refreshments were served. The opening of the mite boxes and monthly payment of dues, raised the required amount, and this noble band has already begun the agita tion of a new organ for Rehoboth church, which doubtless will soon be installed.
