The Angel of Death comos with silent footsteps, crashing in hi* icy arms, the forms of earthly idols, closing fae loving eye and hushing forevei the voice whoss echo was tho messenger of ?.com ing joy. Young, loving, and ab! so tenderly loved, she was tri he J -it^m tier earthly home, to sleep in the bosom of a Edy and Most Merciful Redeemer. Words are poor, but memcrj, U??t best arthit, keeps loving record of her w.rm and noble heart, her g?nerons impulses, and that sweet unselfish kindness which endeared her to all who knew ber. She was confirmed eight months before her death bj the late lamented Bishop ELLIOTT, and died a devoted and consistent membei of the Episcopal Church, . . 1 There is no death, what c-aemsso is-trane'tion ; This life of mortal bveath, ?Is but a suburb of the life elysian Whose portal tee call Death. Fair and lovely in ber Father's Mansion, Clothed with celestial grace, ! AU beauteous in Heaven's expansion Maj we behold her face." . JBSTD at Mt. Enon, Edgefield District, on the 24th of January 13W, WASHINGTON MAY NARD, M. D , in tho 49th year of his age. Ia the death of this estimable man, the com munity has been deprived of a skillful physician, and society of on: of its brightest ornaments. Dr. MATXARD was peculiarly qualified for the dotier cf the profession of his choice. He studied to make himself useful rather than eminent; and io the chamber of the sick, ho appeared not only 'as thc man of science exerting his skill to stay the terrible progress of disease, bnt also as tho warm sympathizing friend, striving to excite hope and encouragement, and to poor consola donkin to the sad, desponding, stricken hearts of friends gathered around tho restless boil of the sufferer. I He possessed not only an intelligent and cultiva? [ted, but like wiso a serious mind, the native ?oil of lavery virtue, the tingle character that does true [honor to mankinrl. His death was the result of ?exposure endured day and night during tho very nclevncnt weather of December preceding h'u , in attending upon a ??ck frienl. He lefia Jwidow and five children, with a large circle of f relatives and friends, to mourn their irreparable floss: but wo fondly indulge tho hope that inloav fag the t-oones of his usefulness On earth, he has [ mer, in the land of tho beatified, the reward of a fflfe of beneficence, sobriety and virtue.
