A TRIBUTE -TO TnE MEMORY OF MRS. J. N. LIPSCOMB, Wife of Capt. J. N. LIPSCOMB, icho died at her residence in Narberry District on the Vith of March, 1SG?, I'M the 3SiA year of her aye. " Bring flowers, pale flowers, o'er the bior to shod, A crown for the brow of the early dead ! For thia through ita leaves hath thu white rose burst, For this in the woods was the violet nursed Though they smilo in vain for what one? was our.?, ?-They aro love's last gift-bring ye flowers, pale flowers !" " Thou wert lovely in life, thou art lovely in death !*' Like some tender, delicate flower, too frail for the rude blasts which swept across its pathway here, let us hope thou art transplanted lo the celestial gardens of Paradise! there forever to bloom with renewed frcshncis and beauty. Yes ! as wc think of her as sbe was in hor earlier) younger days, with a countenance beaming with joy and hope, and a smilo that over and anon was Tadiaut in ?cs happiness, we sigh to thfrrrthat thc stern, rude, realities of lifo were destined to dim that brightness, and that trials and afflic tions, suah however as arc incidental to humanity, caused a heart that was all tenderness, and "formed for softness" to throb with loss hopeful ness, and t ) beat with painful anxiety ai to the future. Yotduty and affection, (though surrounded by trial.-:) were the main springs of ber actions, and her life though brongbt to a close amid storms, and a dark and gloomy fu'ure, lowering its threatening aspc:t around, was replete to the last with Christian graces and virtues,-anil self ishness, that sin most common to Luman beings, nover entered into her nature. She was evor moro roady to give than to receive; gonorous almost to a fault, she would deprivo herself to plcaso others. Her constant effort was to mako ber homo not onl.r comfortable, but pleasant and attractive. In thU she sucoeeded well, and many a timo will her domestic circle fuel that the light which once east its cheerful and happy influence around them, is now put out forever. The tenacity with which her family clung to her, and looked to her, for guidance, showed how ncce3Siry $ho was to them: yet with thc many blessings which surrounded her, sueh was the pe culiar tenderness and gentleness of her nature, and so alive was she to all that was bright and bcprful, that cares and disappointments made her l?ng for that " Rest which is for tho peoplo of God," and which this world can never give. " Bring Heaven to me," were amongst her last words, and that Hes.venly Rest which she so ear nestly desired, is now hers, throughout all time and eternity. " No further seek her merits to disclose, Or draw her frailties from their dread abode, There they alike in trembling hope repose, The bosom of ber Father and hor God." COMMERCIAL. NEW YORK, Juno 2.
